Bought an axle shaft, should be in Reno soon, I'll put it in when I'm back. 43k miles on the bearings and shaft, so should be in better shape than mine, theoretically. I guess I'll have a spare at any rate.

I'm wanting to maybe go run up and around the black rock or maybe around orovada to mountain city.

Also want to make it down to Bishop, maybe have a NV/CA meet.

I'll be back the end of August, then I'll be looking to make a couple good weekend trips before the shitty weather starts back up.

I've done zero exploring out here so I'm game for anything, high speed or crawling.
Lemme know if you need any help with the axle.

Thanks man. I've had to pull it a few times so should be fairly quick but I appreciate the offer. Blew up a side gear and it took out the last 1/4" of splines on my shaft :( but now I'll have a spare.

My July trip to Ideeho was postponed to August due to a doggie injury, but I'll be back in the area before the end of the month. I'm definitely down for something in Sep. I'm good for any direction too.

Is anyone else planning on attending the Reno4x4 Zipgraver memorial run on Aug 5th?
I'll be rigging up an espresso I.V. since I'll be getting home at 5:00 AM that morning.

Popped the Nevada dirt cherry finally with the taco. Like every first cherry, it was short, but fun. Had a rough morning at work so I sent my wife some GPS coordinates I plotted out with Google maps and said if I'm not home by 9:00, send helicopters. I bailed right at 5:00 and headed out towards Gardenerville area.

I swear I went through every ecosystem possible on this route. Started out as nice wide smooth fast dirt roads. People on dirt bikes were pulling out of the way to let me pass. Ran into some nice wash and whoops. That quickly turned into narrower and narrower roads. The rain from a few days ago left some giant mud puddles. The route crossed over 50 different dry creak beds that obviously erode the hell out of the dirt roads with flash floods. That turned into a burnt forest. Next went through some canyons and into some gnarly rock gardens. The last hill actually had to put it in 4 low to get up and ended back on a main road in Carson City.

Door step to door step was 78 mile circle, 25 miles of which were dirt in 2.5 hours including airing down and airing up and random stops to kick the tires and take a couple pix. :anonymous:

I (sort of) know those guys. They did some steel tubing stuff for me for my Jeep last year. Seemed like decent folks to do business with.
