my wife left her dome light in her Subaru cross trek on for at least a full night and her battery was drained the next day, zero power for anything. My question is does she need a replacement battery? I worry about her because she drives very long distances for work and needs a 100% reliable start .

Unless the battery is pretty old, I would recharge it and keep an eye on it for a while.

I recommend a noco battery charger. They're a little pricey but well worth the money

I've got a pretty good battery charger for my motorcycle so when she gets home I'll hook it up. It's a brand new battery, a 2017 car.

on OBDII vehicles when the battery is drained completly ALL of the data that is stored in the various electronic modules for the motor, the transmission etc is gone. The modules will need time to re-learn her habits so if she says it doesnt run the same, well, she it correct. Just drive it and it should be back to "normal" in a week or so.
