Nope, I have to move my lever back for 4Hi, right from 4Hi and up slightly for Neutral, and up from Neutral to 4Lo.

    2Hi
    | 4Lo
    | |
    | N
    4Hi-|

The diagram didn't come out right, but you get the picture.

I don't have any push buttons at all. I was looking at the Gray wire mod thread earlier and also came across the blue harness mod to give the Tacos 2Lo. I think that only works for trucks with the push button on the shifter. Once I move my lever, it locks in the front diff, so I guess I can't do the blue harness mod.

Yup, too many damned electrical components involved for the simple process of going from 2x to 4x , convienience thing I guess...

:rolleyes:, you take the good with the bad i guess. you'd think someone with over 10k posts on a tacoma message board would bring something to the table other than a sour attitude and ZERO info/help.

yep, my mistake for trusting the dealership, money comes money goes i guess, but one things for certain, people who suck in real life can always go on a message board and insult someone to make themselves feel better.

Exactly.. Wyatt is IIRC the only person that has done this, maybe 1 other.. Don't ask us. Ask him. We were just trying to help you because we get retards all the time thinking its the entire thing thats a problem, when really its just some stupid grounding issue or possibly a switch or electrical problem. We are only trying to help.

i appreciate the help, thanks! but when folks start busting my chops and saying I don't know what's going on and to do research etc.. i have to fire back because my thread isn't at all about how the whole system works, i know how it works, I really do, but that wasn't what I was asking.

Before you spend any more money on a problem you have not identified, you should first determine if the problem is the transfer case or the ADD front axle. If the Automatic Disconnecting Differential is not working, changing the transfer case will do nothing. Four wheel drive requires both the transfer case to be engaged and the ADD to lock. You may need a front axle and not a transfer case. Good Luck.

Fairly new to the forum (and Tacoma trucks) so forgive what may be an obvious question. I have a 2010 Tacoma and always had Ford diesels until this truck and I miss the manual T-case. I know the FJ's had manual T-cases? Would it be impossible to swap-in an FJ setup?

someone in here may have the answer, but just a heads up - you posted in the gen 1 section of TW. You may have better luck in the 2nd gen area. But you did search TW instead of doing what most people do which is create a brand new thread on an exhausted topic, so
