Replacing rear chrome bumper

I had to have the Off Road as well. I ended up going to my local body shop that has a account with Toyota. They ordered a unpainted one for $250 from Toyota and painted and installed for $100. Now I have a perfectly matching rear bumper. I sold my chrome on CL a week later for $250.

They come form Toyota unpainted for $250 or chrome for $675, at least that was the price 2 years ago.

I did the same with my front grill surround. $169 from my local dealer, they wanted to beat Camelbacks $180 price. I sold my chrome grill surround on CL for $125

 

I think it looks a lot cleaner.

 

That's awesome! I cut out some holes for off road LEDs in my chrome bumper so there's no way I could sell it to someone unless they planned on installing the same lights inside the bumper. Would be pretty hard to find someone to buy that. Not to mention they would have to buy all the plastic pieces.

 

I need a rear bumper, can you supply the contact information where you got your bumper.

I purchased for $329 including shipping. Looks like he has raised his price to $352. Still not bad.

Thanks for the info, but the bumper does not fit my truck, TRD Sport according to his web site.

 

Description says it won't fit SR5 or X Runner models. Fit perfect on my TRD Off Road.

 

Does anyone know where I can buy the plastic parts for the rear bumper?

 

If you have a chrome plating shop nearby they can dip the bumper to remove the chrome then you can have it powder coated or painted. Sand blasting should work for chrome removal too. I would guess that the total cost for chrome shop dip and powder coat is a bit less than $350.

 

Yup just bought myself one for each side off rockauto.com for $16 each.

That is SO MUCH cheaper than anywhere else, that is how rockauto rolls.

 

The bumpers should all be the same for the Sport, SR5 and TRD.

I think the X runner has some ground effects on it.

Don't you install those with double sided tape or something?

 

I haven't taken mine off yet but I believe they are attached to the bumper with plastic clips? Anyway they break easy I guess so you may need to buy new.

 

OP...how was the paint quality and how well did it match? Looking at some of his feedback on ebay I've seen mostly positive comments but many noted that the paint wasn't a great match and a few said it was poor quality.

Did the same thing last year and had the same problem with the side caps.

Don't think I've cursed that much in such a short period of time before.
