Third brake light went out on my parents snugtop camper on a 2nd gen.

Just wondering if it’s as simple as replacing a bulb or two or do I have to replace the whole unit?

If The whole third brake light needs to be replaced, does anyone have a link to provide? Did a search on eBay and got one result. Not sure if the unit is universal with all snugtop campers.

any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance TW!

I did a quick search on their site, it shows most are LED Lights.
I don’t know how old yours is, or if they ever used a build style.
If it’s bulb style, pull the build and check for power to the socket.
If it’s LED, I’d look at the connection where it’s tied into the brake lights.
It’s possible the LED Lights went bad, but I’d suspect the connection or ground first.

Or you could call @SnugTop and ask them, they may have a simple solution to you problem.

I’d bet money that someone wire tapped using scotch locks.

    Scotch locks are the devil.

You can try 12v straight to the connector for the light to see if it's the light or not.
When I bought my truck with a Snugtop, the connector to the light was broken. Once I replaced that, it still didn't work, so I took the driver taillight off and found a fuse holder back there that was filthy, corroded, and blown. Cleaned that up and replaced it and all was well. The shell was Toyota dealer installed upon delivery when the truck was new, so maybe look for a fuse there.
