I apologize, maybe I have not been clear.

    - Tank average has reset twice. Once upon first gas up (this is correct). Once yesterday (this is an issue).
    - The trip monitor in the MID resets every time the car shuts off (also believe this is correct behavior).
    - Trip A and B reset once with tank average (this is an issue).

Same here. Mine is in the shop because the truck shut down on me completely while driving down the highway. 1398 miles on it and traveling 75mph when it just shuts down. Kicked back on while I was coasting to the shoulder and then died again. Pulled the EC1 30amp fuse (I believe) and reinserted it. Truck started right back up and off I go. 3/10ths of a mile later shuts down. Had this happen 4 more times. Truck was towed to the dealership and there it sits. Dealer contacted Toyota and they are sending out engineers from California all the way to Texas to go over it next week.

My trip meters reset for the second time (~500mi). Once again it was shortly after refueling and after being shutoff.

Add my name to the list. Both A&B reset with no help from me a couple days ago. It appears it did it when I stopped at a store. I was monitoring them closely to check my true gas milage. It was probably the second time it did it, I checked my actual gas milage against what it shows on the display on my last tankful, and I calculated 14 mpg when the display showed 18. Could have been another trip odometer reset that screwed up my calculations.

How many miles on your truck? And please, contact Toyota first, have them create a case file, then contact your dealer or ask Toyota to have your dealer contact you regarding your issue.

Has anyone had this successfully addressed? I continue to have the issue on at least a weekly basis.

No. It hasn't happened to me since the two consecutive days about 1800 miles ago. Have you taken it to your dealer and called Toyota? They couldn't find the problem with mine but yours seems more frequent. Even if they can't fix it now, it needs to get in front of them. Plus Toyota is paying your dealer the time it takes for them to look at it.

So during a short jaunt today I had to make a quick left turn that shifted belongings in the truck. At the time I thought wouldn't it be something if somehow sloshing the gas around would trip the mechanism that resets the tank average?

Low and behold, my tank average and trip meters reset three miles later when I turned off the truck.

Could very well be coincidence or something else entirely, but thought I'd post.

    I have 1,085 miles on my 2016.

Last tank of gas, the trip odometers A & B both reset after it sat unused for 30 hours! Figured it was a fluke.

WRONG, this morning on the next new tank full of gas, I left Trip A visible on my dash screen, this morning it was reset back to 0 (zero) after a short 7 hours of sitting in the driveway.

    Damn, that is unacceptable!

Call Toyota, then call your dealer. Interesting that for everyone except maybe one guy the mileage on the vehicle is all very similar. Between 1 and 2k. Mine has not repeated.

Mine did it twice in the first tank of gas, so <300 miles. Hasn't done it since.

I'm noticing something weird going on with mine as well (~640 miles). Both A & B meters were reset on my last fill-up, I just checked after re-reading this thread and both meters now show 16.9 miles, yet we were at least 40 miles away from home when I filled-up. I work from home so my truck sits quite a bit and it hasn't moved since Thursday evening @ 7:30pm. I'll admit I haven't been paying close attention to the trip meters until now so I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens over the next few days.

Guys...!! There are 2 "trip meters"... One you can change with the push stick on the dash....push it 1 time and you get ODO, 2nd time you get "trip 1"... 3rd time... you get "trip 2".....

The other "trip" thingy is in your display console between the Tach and Speedo.... If you chose the display to show "MPH and Miles left in tank" AND you hit the down arrow on the steering wheel (display button)... it will now show you "this trip"...it only shows the trip since you started the truck..... Next time you start it ... it's a new trip...

Hope this helps some of you guys...

    Cheers..!!

I'm sorry if I'm wrong, but the way I read what's going on... I'm right as always..!!

There is no "Miles per tank" on the "normal" trip indicator... that only exists where I said it was... (at least on Canadian trucks)..!!

Have fun or read the manual..!!

    Cheers...

You can add me to the list. Happened for the first time this weekend after being parked in my garage for about 3 hours. The truck had about 5200 miles. My center display was also on the "current speed" display when I always leave it on "average fuel economy" display.

over60, appreciate the suggestion but this is not simply looking at the wrong screen, this is a reset of both trips A and B as well as total avg fuel economy without manually resetting it.

When I first got the truck it was set to automatically reset the average fuel economy at every fuel up but I changed this so I have to manually reset it. I'm planning to take it in to the dealership this Friday for another issue so I'll put this on the list. Besides a couple of minor annoyances it's been great so far.

I don't recall seeing an option that you can manually trigger it? Mine resets every tank fill, which honestly is fine and what I normally do, but would like to know here you can change that.

Tufster... sorry, I'm totally blown away by what you are saying now...!! Your "B" trip meter resets also....WTF...?? Maybe you changed some setting that maybe you should not have...??

    Good luck..

Also call Toyota and make a case file. Your dealer may not relate the info to Toyota if they can't repeat the problem but, if a case file is opened I feel its pretty certain someone reviews all of those.

The setting I changed is a standard option in the settings, can't remember where/how exactly now since that was about two months ago. No issues since then until this weekend when the truck decided to reset for me.

I was thinking about it some more and that morning I had gone out and after backing out of my garage when I put it in drive I got a quick amber warning light on the dash. It was just a second so I didn't catch what it was but I think it might have been for traction control (I might have been too quick to throw it into drive after reversing). Not sure if this is related but just an observation in case anyone else with this issue may have noticed a similar issue before an uninitiated reset.

Swimmer, is that the 800 number you listed towards the beginning of this thread?
