FYI, mine did it again this morning. 3875 mi. Filled up Friday, truck sat all day Sunday. This morning Trip A=0 Trip B=0, and it was displaying the ODO on startup, which I find is always the case after this has happened (It's how I know it has happened because I always leave it displaying Trip B). So this is the 4th time for me. I also have had 4 instances of the speedo react slowly, like the second hand on a watch, tic, tic, tic. This problem however seems to be a bit more rare. I am due to have the hood looked at tomorrow by the Toyota field rep, so I will be sure to add this to the list. If I gain some traction on these issues with Toyota I will be sure to post relevant info here.

Just as I expected. The Field service tech took the truck for a 30 mi test drive and found no abnormal function of the odo or trip meters. Also no indication of the odo needle ticking slowly like the second hand on a watch. An issue like this really needs to be in a modal failure before it can be properly diagnosed. Unfortunately, Toyota cannot be expected to replace gauge clusters at a whim when a customer has a complaint that cannot be verified. I'm sure they ain't cheap!

So, I will continue to keep an eye on it, and hopefully they will catch the problem in the future and offer a Service Bulletin for a repair.

Mine just did it again this morning. I'm at 1371 miles. After just a 2 hour stop, both Trip A and Trip B went to zero!

Mine did it again. First time to n about 2k miles. 3rd time overall. Filled up with gas. Drove about 5 miles, parked for about an hour and it went to odometer on start up (I always have trip A showing). Scrolled to trip A and B and both were zero. I've been writing down my odometer reading at each fill as a backup.

For others having this issue, do you have your DRLs switched on when this has happened?

    Mine are always on.

Not sure if it is dumb luck, but I got mine to go again after an aggressive turn.

Mine did it again today. Are others with this issue seeing any kind of a correlation with fuel level and this occurring? Is it more often happening with a near full tank?

Mine just did it for the first time yesterday. Headlights were on and also the low fuel light sign about 30 miles remaining. It reset everything to zero and the low fuel light went off then came back on after a minute or two. This was all after making a bunch of short trips, so I turned the truck off and on quite a few times.

So it seems not related to a near full tank. Not to sound like a broken record but, please call Toyota Customer Care and tell them what happened.

@swimmer can you start a poll or update first post to keep track of number of cases this is happening to and what grade truck (i.e. - SR5, SPORT, etc.)?

Also if someone could get a video, that would be awesome.

Third Time this morning. Filled it day before. Less than 15 miles on Trip A. Will call Dealer and set up an appointment. Any body have any ideas what the problem is ? Previous Tank had no issues. Really Weird. Thanks

I have a simple solution for you all. I just got my truck back from service / warranty issues. They likely disconnected my battery for the one service and I got in and saw everything was reset in regards to only the trip meter and the home page button I set. So as stupid as this sounds, check your battery terminal connections. Perhaps you have a loose one.

It's the only 2 things I noticed that was reset so I just assumed that's the reason. If you moved your home button (the one on the right that looks like multiple pages) see if that happens to default to the speedo / distance left screen.

Trip A & B reset Saturday afternoon without in put from me. Approximately 2600 miles on vehicle. Everything else seems to be functioning as designed.

Go and check your battery terminal connections and let us know if they were even slightly loose.

Checked mine and they are tight. No movement at all.

FWIW, my truck went in for its 5k service a couple days ago. Since my truck had done the trip meter reset again since the last time the dealer saw my truck I mentioned to them it happened again. The looked into it. The checked for loose connections within the cluster itself, etc.. and found nothing. They contacted Toyota (again) and opened a case file. One thing the person at Toyota wanted to know was whether or not the Ecco settings/info also reset. I could not answer this as I pretty much never look at that. If I have a reset happen again I will check this.

Does anyone know if your Ecco info also cleared when you had a trip meter incident?

The in dash display that shows distance to empty and fuel economy was reset on mine. After running for a little bit the distance to empty recalculated but fuel economy started over.

Does it register total mileage? That pretty much has to come from the engine management computer and not any backup memory. Wonder if there is backup battery for the rest of the stuff guess a test would be to disconnect the battery and see what happens. It's a new truck keep after them.

Yes but Toyota wanted to know about the Ecco app on the Nav unit. If that does reset also it may lead them towards a software issue rather than an electrical issue.
