I've been asked to bring my truck back to the dealer so they can look at it again. The case manager said service manager would be in contact with a field service rep from Toyota at that time. Need to call to find out when would be best to drop it off.

Jumping in on this thread. Just happened to me for the first time on my way to work this morning. I just hit 4000 miles yesterday on my way home. I always ride with the DTRL on, so that's not the case. I always have it on the screen that shows tank average. When I got in this morning, it had set back to the MPH screen, dimmed my panel back to the middle, reset both trips, and reset the average tank. I had a tad under half of a tank and i've let it get way less than that. The only thing different I did was shut it off when I got home from work yesterday with the ECT PWR button enabled. Not sure if others have done that as well, but I've shut it off with the ETC on before and never had it happen. Just following the thread now to see if someone has any updates on it.

As I posted above, my truck was back at the dealer for a more exhaustive diagnosis. My truck has not been repaired but I believe there has been progress made in addressing this problem. I don't want to say any more at this time as I don't want to spread incomplete information. I should be able to update again near the end of the month. I will say that Toyota recognizes the problem. I'll also mention that my servicing dealer has been excellent to work with up to this point

Still anyone who is experiencing this problem should contact Toyota and open a case file.

i have 2500 miles on mine. it has reset one time. the only thing i did different was fill my gas tank with the truck not running. i always leave my truck running when filling. i know the manual says to shut it down. i have done this for 40 years..dont know if that is what made it do it or not. i will shut it down again next time to get more data and post results.

That shouldn't matter but, surprised you don't get a CEL by taking off the gas cap with the engine running.

I've had mine reset twice now. Finally remembered to see if anyone else had experienced it too.

New here. Just wanted to add my $.02. After a reset with fill-up #3 and #4, I went to the dealer yesterday to see what they knew about the problem and what they could do. Service manager told me that they called Toyota while I was there to check if there was a fix. Toyota said there was chatter on the internet about the problem (I'm assuming this forum) but no case file had been opened yet. Manager said mine was the first case file in the US. Not sure if I believed him after all I have read here, but I didn't dispute his claim. He was very helpful and wanted to make sure that if it happened again to provide as many details as possible. He thought it would be at least 30 days for a fix to come from Toyota. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

He wasn't be honest with you. This issue is under investigation by Toyota. Additionally many of us have opened a case file. Either way, good that you reported it to them.

He was not accurate to his claim... I've been in communication with my dealer in Columbus, Ohio about the issue and have an open case with Toyota customer service. No fix or any correspondences yet... Keep us informed.

Went 125 miles with no resets. All different variables. Before filling tank I shut truck off and reset Trip A after start up. Will report what happens.

I have this problem happen to me once.
Have not checked to see if it has repeated.

What is the actual down side to this? Not have correct average mpg from truck computer??
It does annoy a little but is thats it?

Yes, its annoying for anyone that keeps track of mileage between fill ups for calculating accurate mpg or other reasons and for those using longer intervals for other things. Above all, the truck is not functioning as designed and within the specs guaranteed to the buyer. Also, it could be a prelude to other problems in the electrical system.

This just happened to me.. miles at 5300 miles or so. First time. This is on a DCLB TRD:OR automatic.. I agree with all your observations too.

Well, give Toyota a call. Even though they are supposed to be working on a fix they still need to hear from customers having the issue so they no how common it is.

My first search for this issue. In 7 pages, was hoping there might be an answer. ..resolve, nope. Bummer
Well, my '16 has about 1400 miles total, and I believe I've had this happen with every tank. I do track mileage, so it's pretty infuriating. And yes, it's a new AND expensive truck, so this is wrong.
Come Monday, I'll be on the phone. Maybe Tuesday. ... holiday.
    Same situation as everyone else.
    ADD ME TO THE LIST.
