Until I decide what to do long term I carefully covered my crappy window trim with two overlapping rows of black electrical tape. Cheap and quick! Looks a lot better than it did!

Kudos to @TacoJohn4x4 for the DIY rehab. Looks great.

I broke 2 clips on my first one trying to pull it off using a trim puller. Guess I don't have surgeon's hands. Also I noticed that the right and left ends of my belt trim (once removed) were very fragile and ready to break off. So I'm buying replacements.

For reference - on for 2000-2004 Double Cab the parts are costing me $189.14 with tax and shipping for all four.

Go to this website. Put in your VIN. Select "BODY" and then "Front Door Panel & Glass" or "Rear Door Panel & Glass"

    The parts are these:

68160-04020 Weatherstrip Assy, Front Door Glass, Outer RH replaces 68160-04010 $38.22
68210-04020 Weatherstrip Assy, Front Door Glass, Outer LH replaces 68210-04010 $38.22
68180-04010 Weatherstrip Assy, Rear Door Glass, Outer RH $38.22
68230-04010 Weatherstrip Assy, Rear Door Glass, Outer LH $38.22

Are you having any problems with them being tacky. I've done the belt trims on my 03 IS300 twice now. 1st time I used a spray wrap like plasti dip, second time I used the same but then applied Krylon gloss crystal clear. Both times looked great at first and then everything started sticking to them so they look dirty all the time.

Mine were so dry rotted and hatd that they didn't even lay against the glass anymore. I got all 4 for my double cab for like $125 from oem parts source dot com.

I do not have that problem. Depending on how hot your location gets and if you park it outside could be a factor. Use Plasti Dip only, something similar is not the same as.

Thanks, I'm in Central FL so heat and humidity are definitely factors even in the garage. The Lexus is garage kept and the Taco lives outside. I'm going to strip them again and try your method as I know I can get the plasti-dip to go on smoothly.
