I think island miles are like 5x worse than main land miles.. I don't understand how someone can be this mean to a car though

Have you contacted a priest to perform an exorcism yet? Or would you say you're enjoying the conversations with the voices in the vehicle while you're working on it?

They are. Much, much harder. @DrFunker can attest. Most vehicles don’t make it past 100k before the thing falls out from under you. This beautiful runnah has a whopping 170k on it.

I’m enjoying it too! And I will! Canadian rust ain’t got nothing on ocean rust paired with road salt on top of it. And lots of dirt roads...

luckily I can’t hear much over the voices already in my head.

 my wallet is unscathed!!! So far. I foresee great spending in my near future though...

he’s a great guy, but vehicles have always, and will forever be a disposable tool in his eyes. I tend to agree. Except like all tools, you have to take care of them.

I can’t believe how good everything is on this thing considering how much it’s been put through. Toyota makes some great vehicles. This sucker is proof.

Needs plate bumpers all around though...

This is my dd 02 tacoma I live on a small island Newfoundland it’s surrounded by salt water and it is as Far East as you can in go in North America. We also use salt on our roads.

Two of my 3 tacomas have / will have their frame replaced by Toyota. The other one needs a frame but missed the recall.

Link to my 2007 build check it out I think you will get a kick out of it

Good grief. I have never understood how one can spend thousands of dollars on a nice ride and then so abuse and neglect it. It’s one thing to use something, but that’s just sad. Hope you can get it cleaned up!

Part of me wants to see you restore this to a normal vehicle. And part of me wants you to cut the roof off of it. :sawzall:

People have done pickup conversions on 3rd gens, it would be neat to see one on a 4th gen. Or do a bikini top.

Started reading through your thread! I’ll turn to that for inspiration when I’m dragging ass. Island life man... :rain: my 08 had its frame replaced last year. My dad’s 01 tundra had it done around 2009. Didn’t take very long to rot. Quarter and rocker panels started rotting out at the same time.

that’s great to know! I haven’t looked at many 4Runner forums yet. Luckily most stuff is so familiar from the taco that I’ve bumbled through pretty well so far, that would have been an annoying thing to bumble into... Thanks for that heads up! I’ll look into it!
