Retard question here

Ok so I have no idea what the 2 boxes in the upper right of this picture? What are they for?

Please help

P.s. I am new to the car stereo thing and want to learn all I can.

Looks like those "boxes" are your cross-overs for your tweeters and mid-range speakers. Usually a set of speaker wires goes in and 2 sets come out for separating the tweets and the mids.

 

To me they look like crossover's since the picture appears to be a component set of speakers. Just do a search for crossover's and you should get a lot of helpful information.

yep those are crossovers. I love them they really help with the mids and highs.
The tweeters will sound crisp and clear

 

Does the stock system have them? I doubt it but I though I should ask

Our stock system does not have crossover's. They are usually aftermarket. I haven't looked for a thread here so I couldn't tell you if there is one or not. Crutchfield.Com has lot's of info, you may want to search that site.
