I believe so yes. However they do switch amber when signaling even with headlights. That I wasn't expecting but I'm not complaining they look sick!

 

Yup, halos come on with your drl, turn off with the low beams. They will signal amber in any position though.

I posted in the sell forum but figured I'd let the group here know as well that I have a pair of 2017 OEM TRD Sport head lights...they just came off my truck with ~9500 miles. The truck has been pampered and always garage kept. The passenger side light has 1-2 small scratches on the corner (this happened unfortunately during removal) however everything else is in excellent condition. Just wanted to drop in and say mine are still doing perfect, no leaks, no condensation, no led issues. Nothing! They work PERFECT. Kevin built them back in late March and I live in FL so I experience heavy rain and park otuside 24/7. I get a lot of messages about doing sr5 headlights. I will gladly do any of the modifications listed in post #1, minus drl’s of course, you just need to send a set of headlights in. Luckily these can usually be found very cheap, message me if you need help sourcing a set!

 

The halos can be wired however you want with desired operation determined by your wiring. I have mine turn on whenever the truck is turned on so the 2nd halo on my high beam bucket is still on when the headlights turn on. The most common way I see them get wired is tapping into the factory DRL wiring which has one wire hot with headlights off and DRL on and switches off when the headlights are turned on so the DRL outputs 50% from the other input coming from that harness which is why the halos turn off when the headlights turn on.

 

Exactly. That described function is basically the only way I can pre-wire halos only having the headlights here. If anyone has the desire to run them differently I can always leave the final wiring up to the customer!

 

One warning though, the wiring can get pretty messy really quick when you have lots of new items added to the headlights, if I had the option to have this guy deal with the headache for me I would 100% go that route. I added 2 halos with the diode dynamics switchback DRL board and meso sidemarkers and ended up taking the easy way out using the T-Taps supplied with them and it's currently held together by my prayers and zip ties.

I sold my TRD headlights I posted about earlier, but also have a pair of SR5 headlights off a 2019 in great shape if anyone is interested.

 

I second what this guy said, @no vtec 4me is great, helped me a ton with my retrofit and also did a fantastic job on my amber acrylic cover for the turn signal.

 

Really enjoyed doing your build The amazing photos were a plus too!

@no vtec 4me Looking at all these lights has me tempted! I have a 16sr5 so I wouldn’t be going to crazy.. maybe a BHLM with a smoked side marker?! and you’re not far from me.. I’m in the harrisburg area! Tempting Tempting! Might have to think about this one! How’s the light output at night?

Light output is not effected by a bhlm so no change there.
