Retrofit and BHLM Headlights

after I check this tread and a lot of questions via PM to @no vtec 4me I decided to go with him for my retrofit. I'm a little anxious about me removing my headlights and installing the retrofit when I get it, so I watched all the videos
on youtube I can. Really pumped about this upgrade.

 

I just did it. Getting ready to put it back together. Not much to mess up really.

 

How much time does it take? Any hints to make it easier? I will probably be doing this by myself, no help.

 

I recently had to abort mission. Had them done and was installing. The process is time consuming a couple days for me. I made the amber acrylic for signal light. Hardest part was taking old out and trying to install new in truck. I aborted because too many broken tabs to align headlight properly in the truck. I may re visit it if I do my stock ones in the truck and scrap my donors.

 

I just did my own bhlm and it took me from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon last weekend working on and off. Probably 6 hours of work in total. Definitely take your time.

That sucks. This is my daily driver. I guess when the time comes I will do it when I have two days off in a row.

 

Definitely give a full weekend 2-3 days. I highly recommend scoring a second set for cheap like I did so you can work on them and not worry about messing up your currently installed set

 

Lol I just took them out in a half hour or so and drove them over to @no vtec 4me. Then I picked them up two days later and put them in. I don't know how everyone's breaking tabs. Once you get the three screws out it's just clips and gentle pulling towards the middle. I mean you have to separate the bumper from the fender but that's a screw and a bunch of clips.

 

I think people are torquing at the top 10mm bolts without holding on to the tabs. I’ve heard the one furthest from the engine can be broken just by torque. Honestly if you’re careful tabs aren’t that fragile. I’ve repaired them easily with a soldering iron and epoxy and they hold super strong

I got a nice used set from @no vtec 4me, and he's doing the retrofit for me, I will just do the removal of the stock and install the retrofit set. It seems that broken tabs are a thing. Thanks for the good advice.

 

Yah I dunno how they are breaking tabs either. My donor set came broken. They were free so I can’t complain.

Huge difference. I really dislike the cheap chrome. Makes me want to revisit my failed attempt.

I bet you'd get a decent amount for selling your pro grille to put towards that. A win in my book, for sure.
