Why doesn't anyone simply put the truck in reverse while driving? If you have an Auto.

    That does work.

BUT, You essentially put the truck into "N" and cannot continue to drive once momentum runs out, and your reverse lights will activate during that time. That's kinda pointless IMO...and you have to be going above a certain speed to activate it.

This MOD allows the camera to be activated while still in gear, and no reverse lights on.

    It's pretty cool!

If you're short on cash, there is a link to the "how to" on the original page post. You can do it yourself and save a few bucks if you're comfortable with that!

I'm basically selling these kits as a convincnece for the purchasers who don't know how to solder and do some wiring. I include step by step instructions. Also saves some leg work buying the switches, wires, and diodes and all.

Received the OEM style switch kit yesterday, installed it today.
All went great except the removal of the cubby. I felt it was going to break so I contorted myself under the dash and pulled the harness from the back of the cargo light switch.
I was then able to splice onto the two wires required for lighting the camera switch. Not very easy getting up under the dash, but better than breaking the cubby. The rest of the install was very easy thanks to the detailed instructions that came with the kit.
Thanks Brendan for a well put together wiring harness!
The mod works flawlessly and the OEM Switch looks like it came with the truck.

    Great!
I try to label everything and make everything as clear as possible! It's not too complicated to do, but it can be to someone who doesn't know what needs to be done!!

Feel free to let me know of anything I can do to make things easier for future customers.

Yep. Been using it all week.

Works like a charm. The only downside is it takes about 30 seconds for the nav to "catch up" after the switch is flipped back. No big deal at all.

Glad it's working. 30 seconds is not bad.

Nope. During those 30 or so seconds, the nav works, but the postition is definitely not correct. It just has to catch up.

You should "borrow" a 2nd gen truck to figure out what you need to make a kit for the 2nd gen trucks. I bet you would sell a ton.

Doesn't work worth a darn if you're pulling forward into a parking spot and checking that you're past the rear paint stripes or markers as we have on street-side parking around here...
