Yes, when it's mounted high enough to be a suitable rearview mirror camera, the reverse grids don't do much good. When it's mounted low enough to be a suitable reverse camera with grid lines, it does not do much good as a rear view mirror.

My wolfbox camera is mounted at the top of the window on my camper shell above my tailgate.

Maybe two cameras, with selection switch would be a choice...$$$
One with reverse trigger, the other not.

I think adding an extra channel for a front camera would be better. They have a forward facing dash cam but it’s useless except for dash cam things. A true forward facing camera where you can mount where you want would be great. I’m sure it’s coming eventually.

With regards to the picture of the j33 plug above, is that picture looking at the pin from the front where it plugs into the radio? Or is that from the back where the wires are showing. I want to make sure I tap into 5 or 17 and not into 16 or 28

As if looking INTO the connector, NOT the wire side.
Also, you should make sure by using a digital multimeter to verify current when reverse is engaged.
Probe from wire side, not pin side. Leave connector attached to head unit.

The dashcam rearview mirror camera arrived and I installed the rear camera on the back window. The window has a 15% tint. The day time driving photo quality us very good for the rear and the front but I really care about the rear so I can see because I have a child carseat back there. When testing the night vision, I wasn't impressed with the rear and I am not sure who much the rear tint is effecting that. I am going to ask the tint guy to cut out a small peep hole for the camera to improve that. Alternatively the camera could be mounted outside, but I didn't even consider that as the complexity factor of routing outside the cabin becomes much harder. Hopefully I will not wind out with a botched up rear window tint and that works. I put a sticker where I am contemplating the peep whole. I also ppwered the camera using a fitdvr because i will also use it to ppwer the uniden r8 radar detector. I think it will make for a clean installation but i may not have parking g sensors powered on unless i hardwire it. Let me know your thoughts 20240909_214240.jpg

What about the reverse trigger input?

I didn't do it because I don't need the 2 lines and it is permanently working as a rearview mirror and I can swipe to front camera or both if I want. So there is no rear need after all.

What do you mean by the parking G sensors not working unless hardwired? Do the parking G sensors not work with their supplied 12V plug either?

Also I think the 900Pro lets you remove the lines in setting and give a wider view for the reverse on connection.

The parking mode doesn't work unless it is hardwired.
