You might try giving Fold-A-Cover a call and seeing if they have any ideas...

Do the strikers need to be adjusted? I have no rattles on mine.

Hey guys I'm glad to see that this write up was usefull. I wanted to let everyone know a couple of things I would change on the G4 if I could.

    1. A handle to use for actually lifting rear/front door after being unlocked. Recently it was 109 degrees out here and I need to fold up the cover to haul some gear and HOLY SHIZNET was that cover hot!

    2. I had to pick up my sons playground set from the other side of the bay, it's all lite weight plastic and packed in a huge oversize box just a little bigger than the bed and cover. the box was farly light for it's size so my intial thought was just to lay it on top of the cover. Which would have been perfect the only problem was that there was no way to tie it down with the cover closed.
I was thinking of using a hole saw to drill 4 1.5" holes, 2 on each of the bed through the cover so that I could feed my tie downs through to the bed cleats. Then when not in use I would snap in some rubber plugs to keep it weather proof. If I can find the right plugs I think I'll do it.

    3. I like to think that I am fairly well prepared or atleast getting there in the event I have a breakdown or accident or just need to help someone out, so I have a my emergency kit/box in the back of the bed. There are a few other things I would like to carry that are failry lite weight but bulky that would fit nicely up underneath the rear door or the front door, these items would be made accessible when the doors are folded back.
Having some small cleats of means of securing items on the underside of these two doors would be great.

    4. Similar idea as to the previous one, I wold like to mount two bike holders on the underside of the front door then once the is opened back the holders are available to secure our bikes to. The issue is here as with the previous idea is drill through the cover as well as being able to secure the door in its folded position.

I'll keep researching for the plugs and hardware, hopefully I'll come up with something.

    Have a Great July 4th!

Are you not mechanically inclined at all? You can download the install instructions if you don't have them. Try adjusting your striker pins down further. Or just go thru and make sure all the bolts are tight. It's not rocket science.

    Its not rocket science...

BUT... he had a shop install it and I assume paid for such... Its their job to take care of it for him... They need to do their job to his satisfaction.

I understand that but why take the time to go back to a shop that might not be close by to do something yourself in 10 minutes.

I heard that Fold-a-cover had some packaging problems in the past. Just want to know if they are currently doing a better job of padding the cover inside the box?

That Looks great and sounds the best because you cnt cut into it and you can lock it, but one question.. Do you remember what the shipping weight was for it it looks fairly heavy overall I have a v4 and would like to keep mileage down with as least weight as possible.

60 lbs. is probably a good guess. I think it came UPS. I really like this cover. The quality is very good.

I have had my G4 on for 3 weeks now. Best cover I have ever had. I keep tools in the bed or my truck and misc. other stuff. I wanted the locking tailgate so I have that now. No rattles and it might leak some water but I am in Texas and it has not rained here for a while. I have a bed mat in the truck so most of the time the floor should stay dry.

I had the rubber piece between the tailgate and the cover pull loose. I called the G4 office and they are sending me a new one. In the mean time, I used some Grollia glue and it is holding.

What are the pros & cons of each of these? It looks like he G4 will open from behind the cab vs the Flip Bak opens rear to front. The G4 appears to sit just above the bed, the Flip Bak sits down a little below the bed. Both are pretty close in price and look like the installation is similar. I'm looking into buying a cover for my Taco & would like some feedback on both of these from people who have bought them.

sorry just confirming.... if you get a G4 you can lock the tail gate then close the cover and the bed is secure or do you need to get a locking tail gate as well?

There is a tab that locks the tailgate when you lock the last section but you have to drill into the tailgate and install a loop. I got the pop n' lock so I didn't have to drill holes in the tailgate.
