I’m going to order a new set of tires here soon. I’ve been looking at the Ridge Grapplers and KO2. My truck is a 2018 TRD OR 4x2 and only sees mild hunting club roads in Alabama. What would you go with and why? Pics are appreciated. I’m getting 265/75/16.

Search....lots of info on the forums.

Either tire will get you where you want as both are proven. Buy what you think looks aggressive on your truck and go what’s within your budget. Nittos is significantly more expensive ham ko2.

    Good luck

I can get the ridge grappler for about $75 less than the KO2. I just don’t know what to get. Im leaning towards the ridge grapplers.

OP, are you looking at the Terra Grappler maybe, those are cheaper than K02s, but i think the Ridge Grapplers are quite a bit more expensive?

You could probably get some way cheaper tires for the amount of off-road you're gonna see. I wouldnt sacrifice all the comfort a mild AT or more road focused tire would get you if I wasn't actually wheeling the truck.

Well after much thought and research I went with neither tire because they aren’t available in load c for my wheel size. I ended up getting Toyo At2 in 265-75-16 load c. They were on sale as well at TireBuyer.com.

What's your review on the Nitto and KO2. I heard from @BVita you had some tire experience...

I got the Toyos mounted up and have put about 600 miles on them and so far they have been great. I’ve only driven them down a few dry roads at the hunting club a few times and have yet to lock in the rear end. They do well in the rain too.

Looks good! I think I am going to go with the Toyo Open Country ATIIs next time. I have KO2s in 265/75/16 now, and really like them, but they are load range E. Would like to go to load range c next time for the weight savings.

Realize the OP already made the call but throwing my $.02 in for others stumbling into this thread.

I had 265/70/17 KO2's before my current set of 285/75/17 Ridge Grapplers so I feel like I might have something to add here.

The KO2's were tough as nails and I ran them for almost 50K before I swapped to the Grapplers. The KO2's took a whole lot of abuse and performed fantastic offroad with a long life. They were quiet and rode smooth until I took them off. My only complaint about them was there lack of wet weather traction; I would call it sub par but I live in Nor Cal and we don't get a lot of rain so that was not a big deal for me. Traction on ice covered highways was fine.

The Ridge Grapplers have excellent wet weather traction and have likewise been good on the ice covered highways. They are quiet and smooth going down the highway. Offroad they too have been excellent and have shown to be very tough and have withstood a lot of abuse. I wheel in the Sierra's so there is lots of tire spin on the rocks. Neither tire has chunked out from doing so. Thus far though I have to say I am unhappy with how fast they appear to be wearing compared to the KO2s; I have treated them both the same and the Ridge Grapplers are wearing MUCH faster.

So with that being said, right now I am on the fence about what my next tire will be but if the Grapplers continue to wear as fast as they are then I will be going back to either KO2s or I'll be giving the KM3s a shot as I assume they are made of a similar compound.

In brief: the KO2's lasted much longer than the Grapplers but the wet weather traction of the KO2's was lacking compared to the Grapplers.
