Installed this in about 30 minutes the other night, just took the existing grab handle bolts to Lowes, found new ones about 3/4" longer, used 3/4" steel spacers (put rubber hose over them to make them look thicker/have them black instead of shiny silver) & drilled one of the holes out on the brackets.

It's solid.. but when I find time I will be fabbing up some new brackets that look a little cleaner, use both of the existing grab handle bolts & don't require spacers.. just didn't have the time & wanted to see how I liked it even being in there first off.

Mount was $70 on Amazon, Big Sky SBR-1 Gun Rack, they also have a 2 gun model.. hardware & spacers from Lowes was around $10.. & I already had several cable locks for added security when leaving truck unattended at a store on the way to the range.

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
Could you take pictures of the bracket-to-grab-handle setup that don't suck? I have the same rack but haven't gotten around to remounting in my 2nd gen (worked well in my 1st gen). This would be handy next deer season. :)

Right now it's just using one of the existing 8 holes on the two flanges that I drilled out to 1/4", the way I'll do it (once I get time
And access to a welder) will just be a simple (o | | o) looking bracket lol with the two tabs centered and angled out just enough so that the grab handle can bolt right back with no spacers. May adjust the tab shape/angle/length to keep as much clearance inside the handle for a hand as possible but the rifle rack bar also doubles as a grab handle anyway.

Thanks for the description. I'm an idiot. I should have just taken mine out to the truck and stared at it for a while. It would have made sense, sooner or later. :)

Not sure how many firearms owners frequent the Marketplace here so I thought I'd post a link to the roof rack I just posted for sale as it pertains to this conversation:
