In these situations, the TW search function is a real asset. It will help you to gain a basic understand of what backspacing and offset actually mean. From your post it is difficult to know whether you fully understand those concepts.

If you do, the stock alloys are 15mm offset for the 01-04s and the bolt pattern is 6 on 5.5. For most aftermarket wheels it is recommended that you go with the lug centric type but the stock alloys are hub centric.

What size of wheels and tires were you planning on putting on with how much of a lift? The 16x8 have 4" of backspacing, so in theory, it should be ok but will stick out about an inch more than the stock wheels.

To keep it simple, with a 4.5" backspacing on 16x7 (stock), your wheel is sticking out about 2.5" from the rotor.

With 4" backspacing with a 16x8, your wheel would now be sticking out 4" from the rotor.

On the inside, you're gaining half an inch free space so you wont have to worry about rubbing on the frame as much.

It really does come down to what you plan on running. With your 3" lift, you should be able to get away with 285/75R16 with some fender trimming due to rubbing in the back. Quite a bit has to do with your tires as well since some take the with tread measurement and some dont.

Aftermarket wheels generally require a different lug from stock. The place you purchase from should be able to tell you what the lug requirements are for the wheels you buy.
