The same can be said for pretty much all mods, tuning and add-ons. I have a few hundred bucks burning a hole in my pocket so imma give it a shot. At the very least I’ll have some better aftermarket coils. But we’ll see and I’ll let ya know how it goes.

Just received mine yesterday, have been pretty lucky in the stock market lately so figured why not try them. I was hoping that they would come with the black colored packs instead of the orange ones. The orange is to flashy for me and I have seen them with the black, but guess they might have been pre production one. Not sure but they look really well made. Will try and get some pictures tonight. Not sure when I will install them, in the next couple days.

Do you have a 12 Taco? If you do, these are theoretically not supposed to fit because where the bolting location is in comparison to where it is on the pack is enough to cause problems with the connector length. They physically won't reach despite the plug being on a different spot.

Not to mention T4R coils stop going down the spark plug tube early for some reason. These may show you a similar issue as is.

I have messaged them about this and they are aware of the issue now.

Ok so long story short they do fit on a 2012. My wire harness had enough play to get the connecters on, the only one that I’m concerned about is the driver front pack because the wires are a little stressed. But if you are installing them on a tacoma the mounting holes are on the wrong side, but like I said my wire harness had enough play for it not to matter to much. First driving impressions are the engine maybe seems smoother. Can’t tell if my butt dyno is working or not. But everything seems good so far.

So they not a direct swap for the Taco? I wondered about that. Glad yours went in without too much hassle

Was not to bad, the only one I had a little trouble with was the driver side front. The passenger side took me about 10 minutes to do, the driver side about 20-25 and most of it was due to that front connector. I sent Ripp and email last night with the pictures asking them to advise and the response I received.

As per the description these are for 3.5L Tacoma, however as you have now figured out they do "work" with the 4.0. We haven't advertised them for the 4.0 Tacoma yet as we are aware of this and are developing 4.0 Tacoma specific kits. If you are able to unwrap some of the coil pack harness the connector will have some extra slack. The easiest way to do this is to remove the intake manifold so that you have full access to the harness underneath it. We've seen it done without removing it however in our testing we chose to remove for ease.

Now on their website they do advertise it for the 4.0, but they advertise them for the 4Runner 4.0. I am not 100% if the 5th gen 4.0 comes with different coils then the 4.0 in the Tacomas. I find it hard to believe that toyota would do that, but I could be wrong.

Why the swap, and wouldn't the lack of a mounting bolt play havoc with vibrating loose off road and grounding point for electrical noise?

So after some research the 4Runner coils are infact different then the Tacoma ones. My fault, I assumed. They still work, but you will have to adjust the slack on the wire harness to get them to work.
