    Ladies and Gentlemen,

About of 2 weeks ago i read a article on msn/auto about the sales decline of trucks. What caught my attention in this article was a sentence that toyota had a 9 percent increase in sales for Tacomas in the month of may. This article made think about the popularatity of this truck. Lets be careful with our trucks. Lets make sure we try to prevent thefts of parts from our vehicles. I dont know how interchangeable parts are with different models years of tacomas. Remember the economy is getting worse by the day so in order to avoid paying higher prices for certain parts sometimes its cheaper to just steal from another tacomas. So as owners of a very popular truck lets make sure we do everything possible to prevent thefts of partsd from our tacomas. Good luck and be safe.

There has been a definite increase in the number of Taco's out here.

Yesterday I saw 12 Taco's over the course of a 30 mile drive.

Contractors and other companies with work trucks seem to be driving a lot of I4 Reg Cab 4x4s lately.

Even more reason to lift and mod. Gotta look different from the crowd

I drove through the local Toyota lot last evening after hours, there were literally dozens and dozens of big Tundras, and maybe seven Tacos, with none of them being regular-cabs. When I bought my reg-cab in March it was the only one on the lot, next to about a dozen access and DC models. I would suspect that more and more people who would have previously bought a Tundra (or a big Ford, Chevy or Dodge) are now downsizing to the Taco. What I don't understand, however, is why so few regular-cabs are available? I don't even see many on the road, except for older ones. Second Gen regular cabs seem downright scarce.

I found there to be 7-8 regular cabs in stock at each dealer I visited here in KC...this was about a month ago. The sport access cabs are the ones that seem hard to find around here.

I worked at a large dealer here in Florida up until March and we had 50-60 double cabs in stock almost always, 15-20 access cabs, and we were lucky to have 5 reg cabs. The dealers get allotted vehicles as to what they sell. So if they do not sell many reg cabs they dont get many. Once they start to sell more, they slowly get alotted more, but it takes time.

Tacoma sales are up because all of us bought new ones after we had to give our 95-00 Tacomas back to Toyota because of frame rust!!

My dealer tells me that Toyota is buying back 80% of the 95-00s and now the 01s are part of the deal too, I understand. That is a lot of new Tacomas sold!

Note that there will be few used Tacomas out there in those model years. Maybe we will get higher prices for our used ones when we sell (if we ever sell).

I had a friend just sell his Sequoia and bought a Lexis IS350. Said he was getting about 12mpg with the big I-Force V8! So, why would the sales be up - weird!

My Moms Sequioa gets roughly 15MPG city and 18MPG highway.

Towing it gets 13MPG highway (overdrive off).
