Curious where you landed on your tire quest

 

Right this second, i want to see how overgeared I will be with the 265/70/17's i have. They have provided me many miles of enjoyment so Im going to replace them with 285/70/17 Load Range C more than likely. I could always go bigger with the 4.88 gears but from what I can gather, heavy weight BP + 4.88's + 33's should = just the right setup.

35's would be dope but I believe I will end up in the same situation I am now, which is undergeared due to the weight.

Most of what I read says 4.88's are good with 35's on a built rig. I just put on d rated 285 MTR's and feel I need gears now. Truck is so slow from a stop and struggles on steep inclines in 4hi. Last saturday out wheeling I had to use 4lo just to make climbs I could easily do with 4hi on c rated 265's.

 

Those MT's add more weight to the tires so it makes sense it would feel more sluggish. Good info for sure

 

Yeah it added another ~65 lbs(including the spare) in weight to the truck. Ko2 in 265 c rated are about 45lbs and the mtr 285 d rated are 58 lbs. I can live with it for a while, I'll just be using 4 lo a lot more than before. I almost went 305's but found out I would need to trim the fenders and remove the fender liner to fit them so that was a quick no since I'm not running a snorkel(yet). I tend to make some poor choices that bite me in the ass and drowning an engine is something I hope to not do to the truck.
