So, since the house move is all done and we are mostly settled, and I’ve finished some major goals at work, im thinking i need to take on some new challenges. I’ve got just enough space in the garage so I’m going to try my hand at some more work on the truck. This time, I am going to step it up and try to do everything myself that I would have gone to @Texoma or others for in the past. I’ll still use vendors for things here and there, but will aim to be as DIY as possible. Here is the list of things I am planning on doing to the truck and kind of in the order I am thinking I will go with. I hope to learn a lot and get some new tools in the process.[IMG] I already ordered impact sockets, metric and sae, regular and deep socket, rails, impact, flex head ratcheting wrenches, tool boxes, extensions, adapters, and anything else I was missing. Ill be ordering a welder and related items soon as well.

I have broken the list into 3 categories and am going to use this post as a running list to keep track of it all. If you see anything that would make sense in a diff order or something I should consider, let a brother know!

I knew you would appreciate that :)

I like your list!! #2 in your list is something I need as well but not on this go around. I am going to add a cross bar in between the hammer hangers though, should help a little.

Thats quite a list! Lots to do for sure. My 1 thought on #27 the headlights is I would BHLM then fix the broken tab. Not sure how the fix will hold up to baking in the oven and it should be easy enough to do that theres not much risk waiting until after.
Also heres a good thread on maintenance. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-diy-maintenance-quick-reference.406712/ it doesnt list the 60k services but gives torque specs for a lot of the work. 60k service is oil, diff fluids, transfer case fluid, general checks and probably more.

I figured I would just list out all the things that I have had on my mind recently... and then i had some beers too! The beers help hahaha

Thats a great point Jason! That epoxy could bake off or whatever. The gouge is the real question there. If my headlight restoration kit i have can get that out, then ill do it. Otherwise, I may get those new morimoto ones. Thanks for the link! I got that one saved and on the toolbar in chrome :)

Oh yes the beers always get me in trouble. I’ve had to be super disciplined with funds for the most part this year. But recent weeks I’ve lost all control.

I can see the scratch being the key factor in everything, Those morimotos are nice looking. For the cost I would likely just get a custom retrofit setup done but I also prefer HID over LED for headlights. I've been thinking about tearing mine apart again and adding some more to them but I already blacked them out and did the RX350 HID retrofit.

That would be the retrofit I would want to do as well. Is the night output impressive? Do you regret any portion or wish you would have done something diff?

No regrets, they have good output and cutoff. I would like to upgrade the DRL boards to switch backs(werent available when I did the work) and maybe add halo's for some mall crawler points. If I can figure out how I would love to upgrade the Hi beams to HID and figure out a turn signal upgrade so I can black those 2 buckets completely and eliminate all the chrome! Overall though I'm happy with them and have had it done for 2 years now. I will likely save that little bit of money and time to put it towards one of the many upgrades that I'm wanting to do like gears and front locker. I'm currently gathering all the parts for almost a complete suspension upgrade(only things not being replaced are front UCA/LCA and leaf springs though I'm trying to talk myself into new leafs instead of just adding the AAL to my dakars).

thats great info about the retrofit. Ive wanted that for ages and should have just done it already.

I added a leaf to my HD dakars for BP's fat ass and its not bad at all. They squeak tho hahaha

I bought all the parts during a sale and decided it was then or never. Still cost more than I would have liked($400-500 for all the parts) but they are nice and I dont regret it.
I have 50k on my dakars, I'm used to the squeak. Got the AAL for them over a year ago to get some arch back since they are flat and to better support the bed when loaded but haven't gotten around to installing them. Now i have all the parts to redo the rear unless I decide to go to a custom leaf pack. Once I order and get new front shocks(king ext travel w/adjusters) I will get it all installed and setup a time with someone to get the shock relocate welded on.

You are gonna be setup then! Ive heard the ride quality increases with shock relocate. I looked into it but it would require a hefty rear shock purchase. Even with the GB pricing, it would be $$$. This is what drove me to hammer hangers though I would much prefer that AND shock relocate hahaha... #iwantitall

Just got a notice that the first order I placed is on the way! this is with tools mostly. I need to order brake parts and spindle gussets.

    Truck stuff
$$$ is why I havent ordered front shocks yet. Spent more on the rear than I was originally planing... Archive Hangers, 12" kings w/res/adjusters/relocate(original plan was stock length replacement but the GB came up and I couldnt resist), ubolt flip, ext brake lines and new bump stops. Still want to order the Archive cross bar. I would have ordered it when I got the hangers but I found the hangers for sale on here new for cheaper. Have you looked at the Bamf hangers? They cost less than the Archive and look to be good. I hadnt seen them until after I already had the Archive hangers.
exactly why I couldnt resist the relocate GB!
