    I spent a little over a week there in 1994 when UPHOLD DEMOCRACY was going on and Hatian boat people were the crisis du jour.

    The Marines were unhappy with a squadron of C-130H gunships and another of PAVE LOWs on the ramp - they don't like being outgunned on their own base!

    But we'd run into each other in the DFAC and then the posturing would start.

    Some of them couldn't make heads or tails of the flight suits and thought it was "green skin."

    There was a beater dive car that rolled around - a late '80s station wagon with no windows and a giant shark fin welded to the roof. That still isn't rolling around, is it? I think the SEALs used it to haul their practice gear to Leeward so they could dive for rock lobsters.
