Based on this picture, it appears the ram air opening in the hood would connect to the top of the stock air box, but if you did that, wouldn't you also be bypassing the air filter?

The merits of your statements, what merits? Neither of us need theory or calculations to accept that a negative pressure acts like a vacuum which draws a higher pressure to it similar to positive negative electrical charges aka physics. The shape of the scoop inlet is similar to a NACA which only adds to its efficiency. As far as being wildly more intelligent than you, dude you believed that you were one of the few, the proud, blah blah blah. Prior to MARSOC those of us in SOCOM referred to you and your fellow marines as sand bags and bullet catchers, generally considered the dumbest fvcking soldiers on this planet and prior to MARSUCK to be the "baddest" jughead, force recon you had to earn a Ranger Tab first, WTF Bro? Yeah I know that pisses a lot of Marines off but get over it the truth hurts and always has however when the rounds are incoming we're all brothers.

No, the air filter remains you're only connecting the hood to the air box and possibly sealing the factory intake location.

unless you cut a hole in your stock air box lid and seal it between the hood and the box itself

Exactly, a flexible boot must be fashioned to make it work and be air/water tight. MAS's do not like leaks.

What I mean is, you'd be connecting it downstream of the air filter, assuming the filter lays in the seam on the air box. Isn't the air flow from the bottom of the air box to the top?

Yes, but it has to be able to flex and always remained sealed when the hood is closed.

Who actually brags about serving in the military like that, with an entitled air? You make the rest of us look bad when you do that.

Sadly Brother I didn't create this thread to be entertaining or entertained. Good thing a diversion was welcomed for laundry time...

You make yourself look bad pal. I'm not bragging, it's the truth and the way of life in SOCOM. If you've never been there STFU.

    Still an incoherent argument.
Ram air is a cheap forced induction. Yes it is true the Tacoma scoop looks a bit like a NACA duct, however, its on a FUCKING TRUCK, and furthermore, it's placement on the hood is not ideal for either pressurizing or any other than ambient draw. But since you only want to debate service histories, was this he Army you served in son?

It comes from a controlled scoop that only opens when the right pedal is mashed. Doing so alone increases vacuum now with forward velocity, a NACA type funnel and now opened scoop leading to a smaller tube you have truly effective ram air.
