Roadside assistance jacked my truck up by this instead of frame. What is this part?

Nah, not as much fun. The bottle jack on the control arm works fine and the hilift on the sliders/bumpers does as well. In this case drinking beer and posting stupid memes is more entertaining.

You should take it upon yourself one day while your truck is sitting in your parking place on a nice day evaluate you spare tire, where your tire iron and jack is where the manufacturer recommends to jack from. Throw a can of fix a flat and a tire plug kit in there. Understand you need to knock your lugs loose after you get jack placed properly with some of the trucks weight on it before you lift it up all the off ground. And you should throw a flat hard wood board in your truck because even on asphalt you can dig any of these jacks into the ground. If you got big heavy wheels you should learn to place your tire iron perpendicular to the wheel roll your 48" onto it to have Leverage to lift it up onto lugs.

Make sure you Engage your emergency brake before you start in on jacking a vehicle up.

I use the LCA’s on the front and center of read on the rear, if just one side use the end of the axle housing near the spring or under the spring. Under the Frame I use a piece of 4x4 between jack and frame

The jack can slip off that lower controll arm easily, that's most likely what happened when RSA first jacked it up and damaged underside. Especially if jack doesn't roll out with that arm moving outward as it moves up there is no true flat spot on arm.

Thanks for the info everyone, I was not there to watch the roadside guy every minute while he was under the truck but the roadside guy was the last one up there and part of the skid plate that I recovered which fell off was bent. He had admitted he had been up working for 18 hours straight and since the skid plate is near-ish to the lower control arm I feel that he the one responsible and accidentally tried jacking it up by the skid plate, or part of his jack was on the skid plate. It was dark and the truck was on a slight hill. Everyone makes mistakes but I am glad I have more info now.

    - regards

I still think he had help bending the skid plates from the grease monkeys!
