Rock chip on the plastic bumper of my new truck, should I throw the truck away and get a new one?

Infamous white paint has me nervous, despite hearing the peeling problem has been fixed. If the bumper were metal, I'd touch up the rock chips just to prevent rust. Should I just leave it alone? I know rock chips are inevitable/a sign of using the truck as it was intended, but feel free to roast me anyway.

I know the pain, shortly after I picked it up I got a decent chip on the hood, went for the Toyota Canada version of the big guard. Sucks but it is what it is man

Yeah, that plastic bumper will be the catalyst to start the rusting process on the rest of the truck.

You're gonna need to spend $1000's to halt the spread of the cancerous virus. Treat the frame and all plastic parts the FF or Cosmoline. Don't forget the interior.

A temporary stop would be to replace the chipped bumper with a stainless steel bumper.

    Oh look, another mod....
Ha. This exact thing happened to me one week after I bought my Taco. I didn't touch it up, because like you said "it's inevitable". The chip hasn't grown in size. But I'm one of those people who, when they notice a flaw, I can't un-see it. Sometimes that is all I see.

Every time I walk up to to my truck, I glance at the bumper where the spot is, and I see it. A little black spot surrounded by Voodoo Blue paint. I know that the day after I decide to touch it up and fix it, it'll happen again.

We are cut from the same cloth. The damn bumper plastic is black, so its super easy to notice against my paint. I'm considering the paint protection film, but the stuff on my door edges is already yellowing and I'm not convinced it really does all that much.

Man, I'd jump on that if I didn't think they looked absolutely absurd on white tacomas.

Well, I've heard mixed reports. Toyota reported fixing the color for other cars with the same color code, but maybe the process is different for Tacomas? Hard to believe that to be the case. On the mega thread, no complaints from 2019- when you search those years, but that doesn't mean it won't happen eventually.

Using a bright red or yellow grease pencil, make a large circle around the ding, with a big arrow pointing to it. Live with it like that for a month or two. Then remove the marks. You won't notice the ding after that.

    As an alternate.....

Purchase one of those "bandage" decals for cars. These are usually placed on dents.
