What do you guys think about rock light mounting points? In the wheel well vs going lower on the frame?

I want to get 6 KC Cyclone lights and have them turn on when I lock/unlock the truck with a cab mounted "anytime" switch. Just wanted to see if anyone had an opinion on it. Thanks!

Frame, or even in/on the internal fender pan at least up front.

Don't want anything electrical to get snagged pull the wires cause a dead short and burn your truck down.

    Sure that's being dramatic but...

Looks like you have at least a front bumper, could always mount up in there if you're doing 2 per corner.

I know @ovrlndkull made little aluminum stand off bracket mounts for his rock lights.

Yeah I think the frame will keep the most useful light output too. In the wells I think more light will be "lost" but it'll make my truck look cool, ha. I was thinking of doing the magnetic pucks but still researching. I definitely only want to do this once!

@crashnburn80 has a great thread on testing rock lights if you haven't seen it already.

Absolutely! That's what lead me to the KC Lights in Amber. I run Rigid Scene lights on the sides of my Prinsu and they are super useful at night. So I went with Amber for the rock lights too.

For placement the only thoughts on going higher would be for a great spread of light higher up for the camp site.

I’m also trying to find the best spot to illuminate where the tire meets the ground on the outboard side.
I’ve been looking for pics for hours.

    Hi guys!

Man I thought I updated. I have an anytime on/off switch and they're linked to my lock/unlock dome lights. I have one in each wheel well on the top, one under each slider, one in the front bumper where the RCI skid meets the Pelfrey bumper, and one in the rear Pelfrey bumper. All amber. 8 total.

These have been so damn useful! Camping, finding my truck at night, pulling over on the side of the road. Love em. The new version of the Cyclone's really are an upgrade. This first pic is from when I had 6 lights, not 8. I'll get ya a fresh one soon.

My orginal 4 where mounted on aluminum brackets with mtare earth magnets to mount the brackets to the truck the next set inused mild steel and skip thebexpoxy for the magnets.

I had 4 in the wheel wells. Front 2 on the cab mounts ( check tire clearance ) . 4 on the body near where the factory predator steps mount rear two on the fram.behind the tires.

You can find pictures in my build thread

Just a parts bin toggle switch. Nothing exciting.
