i had my rock slider installed a while back and ever since i installed them. I hear a clanking noise coming from only the drivers side whenever i go on bumpy roads. I re-checked the bolts if they were properly tightened. I even took it to have it checked by the company i bought them from and its still making the clanking noise on bumpy roads. They are the bolt rock sliders from DO. Any ideas?

How's the gap between the sliders and the cabin pinch weld?

Well there's your problem, there's no gap.

You want at least 1/2" gap between the sliders and cabin at all times. Maybe it's the angle of the photos but if definitely looks like you have *maybe* 1/8" gap in some spots

That’s super tight. If you came down on a rock you’d flex them into the body.

That is VERY close and is not really usable as a rock slider. As some have mentioned, dropping onto a rock or even sliding on with the full weight of the truck is likely to cause some rocker damage. What brand are the sliders?

Thanks! Thats what i thought. And nope its really that close not just the camera angle. What type of steel plate would you guys use to make the gap bigger?

Since it's their design, their product, and their installation, why not let the company take a whack at it? You paid good money for these so let them earn it

I have a similar issue with my CBI sliders, but only when snow and ice builds up at that spot in the winter time. Thunks like crazy.

Okay, reading that your sliders are from Demello, makes me really question their quality control. This shouldn’t be an issue if you’re using jigs and taking the time to do it right.

as other's have said, the clearance is extremely tight. my CBI's (thanks @Braska Taco) have a fat inch to the pinch weld.
however, i do have a "clank" when going over bumps while city driving as you describe. iv'e just chalked it up to frame flex vs. slider or vise versa.
i do not notice any clanking while offroad.

Demello is usually the cream of the crop when it comes to Toyota armor. I would imagine this was an isolated incident. I’m sure @JDEMELLO would like an opportunity to review the installation and make sure you are taken care of.

So i contacted them and they agreed that they welded it too close thus making that angle so close to the cab. They told me to email them thru instagram and that they will make another set to get it fixed!

I just want my rock sliders to be good so i can go to sandstone canyon again :fingerscrossed::D

No, this isn’t a great resolution. This is bullshit. My sliders were seriously fucked up. I accepted a fat refund, which was basically payment to fix this shit myself, and STFU.
The OP is getting screwed. Some horseshit about “our warranty only covers parts and not labor”...

This is bullshit at its highest level. The guys installing the parts damn well knew the sliders were fabricated wrong and they didn’t say a word. Now if the OP installed the parts, well, he should have contacted you like I did, but...

Demello offroad has rested on its laurels. The quality is crap, their warranty is bullshit, they’re screwing this kid, probably because english is his second language and they know they can.

@JDEMELLO what kind of shit is this? You sell a poorly fabricated product, install it with your team, then when called out you offer up free sliders, but the kid has to pay the labor to fix the fuckup your team caused?

Even if you weren’t paid to install them, you caused the issue, you should fix it. Unless there is a disclaimer that “our sliders fit like shit, and that’s your problem, buy at your own risk”, YOU should be the one contributing the labor to fix the piss poor manufacturing, and absolute lack of quality control.

Google reviews, tacomaworld knowing the truth, you screwing the customer because you used to sell good shit back in the day.... I’m calling a spade a spade. Your products are trash, and your customer service seems to be bought. Yep, I sold out, but the $450 refund was not too bad.

One bad review is remembered by hundreds. One hundred good reviews are remembered by one. It’s time to step up and do what’s right. This isn’t some one off problem. If your manufacturing was on point, and there was QC, this would be an issue.

    See the pic below.

While I think your rant explains a lot about the type of customer you are, a parts and not labor warranty is pretty standard in the aftermarket parts industry. There are a couple of outliers (ARB) for example but for the most part they cover parts, not labor.

Edit: I just read your other thread. Looks like you installed the parts yourself. What labor would you like hat they cover?

Your current rant is a far cry from your statement here in that thread....
