So, the time for sliders apparently came (and went). Was trying out a new trail today that I've been wanting to do for quite a while and had some ground slip out from under me as I was exiting a creek which set the door/upper rocker down on a root and bashed up the side pretty decently. Only pic I have for now is attached. Might have some video latter, the guys spotting had no clue that root was there (and I was the last truck through).

Any guestimates on what it might run to get this fixed, its about an inch deep, maybe 2 inches across the widest point, and is right on the seam just inside the door line. The door is dented as well.

Guess I'll be getting some sliders before going back out now.

Ouch that'll cost a pretty penney. My guess is well over 1k. Heck I put a small dent in that same area and it was $1200 cdn to fix. I wish I had sliders at the time but now I'm loving my Shrockworks. I think the sliders are a great idea :)

I've always found that around $300.00 per panel is a good guestimate....you have about two panels to be worked on abd painted so $600.00 is a good guess. ymmv.

Its actually 3 panels, the door, the rocker/cab, and the fender underneath the flair. Like the looks of the BeefedTaco set, might go talk to my roll cage builder and see what he can do for me.

Gonna cost a fair amount. Looks Luke the back door, rocker, cab, and boxside? Don't forget to blend the front door for color match. Pulling time to pull the rocker put. Depend how far in it may have damaged the inner structure. R&i box for rp and paint of the box and can corner. R&r bedside decal and stone tape if you have. How much is your insurance deductible? If you wan. It fixed right it's definately gonna cost you more than $900-1200. Sorry to hear about your truck, especially with something that could have been prevented. I dread the day I need to get my truck repaired.

Welp, insurance took a look at it today, and estimated ~1800 for repairs, cut me a check on the spot for 1300 (500 dollar deductible). I'm halfway thinkin about just tossing some cleanup/paint but leave the dents and get some sliders put on since I have no intentions of getting rid of the truck (unless toyota brings the diesel power here to the US) and will continue my forest excursions, so I'm sure more "pinstriping" and other dings may show up over the coming years... but by the same token, its only got 56.5k miles so the taco is still young...

So how does insurance in the states work? They cut you a check to go get it fixed but what about hidden damage? Almost all te cars he insurance adjusters here do have it. Do they cut you another check or the additional damages? And if you don't get it fixed can't they 'audit' you or whatever the proper term is, to make sure you spent the money on repairs? Not 100% sure on your policies down there.

Yeah, they said if in the course of the repairs more damage is found they would go to the repair shop and take a look and cut a new check for the additional damage.

While they were explaining my options to me they said I could pretty much do what I want with the check as long as TFS signs off on it since they are a lien holder.

gotcha, figured they had to do something like that. No doubt there would be more damage then there original estimate. looks like you've decided against the repairs. Not what i would have done personally but its your truck and your money. At least the check should cover the cost of some new sliders for christmas and just maybe prevent this from happening again.
