Next up was some very remote places that are near Trout Lake.

 

Very nice- what was the trip duration, days and approximate miles traveled if you don’t mind me asking?

We were in Canada for 5 nights, but we weren't rushing any part of the trip - it was super chill. Total distance was about 2000 miles roundtrip to/from Seattle. I will - as always - post a trip report to my build thread (likely in a couple weeks), and you can watch/subscribe here if you want emails when I post it:

The next morning we headed back down the mountain to catch a ferry.

 

After several hours of highway, we ended near the Radium Hot Springs area to find camp. Camp was a beautiful little lake but unfortunately, there were quite a few mosquitos. No photos of the lake.

 

Where we were a bit unlucky with the mosquitos, we were quite fortunate to see a lot of the larger fauna, including deer, elk and moose. Even a marmot or two.

I think this is probably the largest deer I've ever seen. When I first saw it, I thought it might have been a small elk. The deer we have in Washington are about half the size of this one.

 

Up, up, up to find the end of the trail. It was worth it.

 

I'll be the first to admit that I am not much a risk-taker when on foot (put me in a truck and I'm fine with shelf roads with hundreds of feet of drop offs). But there are those that are. They will cross raging creeks and climb glaciers. I know of one.

 

That was fun. Although, it would have been great if we'd gotten more pics when the river was 18" higher with the snow melt !

Just make sure to snap pictures if/when he inevitably slips in such a situation. Then we can all laugh together on the interwebs lol

Cool pictures otherwise. Nothing beats the scenery in that region. I hope to make it up to Canada to explore one day as well.
