Hello Tacoma friends. Yesterday I was driving in the rain and lost control over an oil slick doing 20mph and I flipped my truck.

I could have driven it away I think but my tire popped when the wrecker flipped me back over.

I looked closer and saw that the metal paneling is broken in some places and not just dented. Apart from that my driver door doesn’t open very well without hitting the front fender. Is this repairable or am I too far gone?

I’m not exactly a wealthy person so I need to make this truck last me. Does anyone have any advice on how to make it more presentable as well as advice on how to make sure it is safe to continue to drive? Many thanks in advance!

Take a hammer to that front fender and drive it. I've driven worse looking vehicles for over 100k miles.

It's up to you to decide if it's worth keeping, why are questions like these asked?

I dig the color, so personally I'd total it out and buy it back if cheap enough then cut it up and turn it into an off-road toy.

Pull the inside door panels off and beat the dents out the best you can.
    Drive it.

Liability vs. Full Coverage insurance maybe. I'm actually not a fan of full-coverage myself.

I only have motorist insurance unfortunately. There was some oil in the road and it was raining. I was taking a slight right onto a feeder road and started losing control. I hit the curb and flipped over D:

Beat out the dents, or dont... I didn't. Then keep driving it. Welcome to the perks of a old toyota.

Be thankful you are okay and enjoy the free opportunity to inspect the undercarriage!

C'mon man, that 'tis but a flesh wound. Landed in nice soft grass & damp soil. Didn't even crack any glass, even the side mirror is fine! Undercarriage looks excellent, almost no rust, you might want to look around for some oil leaking somewhere though.

Remove interior door panels, carefully bang out the dents, probably won't even crack the paint!

    Good to go.

    What is 'motorist' insurance?

Only aware of full coverage and liability.

The side mirror broke off the second I touched it to put it back lol. I ordered a new one and it’ll be here today.

The insurance I have only covers me if someone else hits me, if I hit someone else or things like that I’m not covered.

I lol’d about the undercarriage inspection . That’s what it looks like after a Safe-T-Cap installation and some hard work.

Yeah, I that were my truck I'd probably follow the previous suggestions to remove the panels and beat them straight enough to open/close the doors and keep driving it.

These trucks are tough, as long as you shut it off immediately after roll-over you should be good.

I'd still pull the plugs, drain fluids, etc. before trying to fire her back up.

With that said, unless it's salvage title why not carry full coverage?

Forget what my Tacoma was, but the 4Runner was roughly $45 full coverage and the Land Cruiser was slightly cheaper at $43 or $41 full coverage.

The GX is roughly that as well per month and includes windshield, towing assistance, and uninsured motorist.

Oh man don't listen to these guys, that thing is gone, but I need a project so I'll give you $2000 for it, will pick up.

    :-D

Seriously, most of what you have there is basic body work if you have a place to do it, and do the painting. For full on fixup I'd probably save some time, get another door and front fender from a junkyard, remove the rear inner panels and bang it out. Find the best corners/seams to tape off and paint the whole side, looks like you have some paint wearing through the top rear of the cab and a rusty spot doing it's nasty on the rear fender anyway.

Or as mentioned . . . get a basic dent puller kit and pull the big ones out, drive it and let the dents be the opening to the story of how you got them.

I don't think insurance companies are too keen on shelling out for "single vehicle" accidents

Insurance companies in general aren't too keen to shell out any money

But it's important to know your coverage since afterall, you are a customer paying for a service

The 3rd Gen section blows my mind with that stuff, especially the many cracked windshield threads (at least once a month) which makes me think it's their first vehicle ever
