So driving through the $5 car wash this morning I hear a thud, not sure what it was. Get out to vacuum and dry and see this. Anyone know how this is fastened down?

Yep 3M tape, and you can stick it down on that clip that you can see in the most front in the picture you’ll be fine any car washes I would be very hesitant

What the last two people said.

Marine grade silicone also works. They sell little squeeze bottles of it (in black) on Amazon and at hardware stores. That’s what I used because I already had it laying around.

The molding is already oxidized and chalky so it doesn't have much life left.

Pull them both off, paint them, then reinstall. I used Rustoleum Bumper and Trim on mine. Came out great!

Icon Coilovers, Downsouth UCAs, rear Icon "2.5" shocks and Toytec single AAL. Still gotta do exhaust, dark headlights and re-gear the rear diff.
That's the little plastic piece in your pic (an inch from the windshield) that it snaps down to and then in the rear I believe its only double sided tape. Last time I checked (before Bidenomics), the moldings were $80ea on the discount toyota parts site.

You damn sure can’t buy them. I ordered two and order went through. A few days later toyota cancelled the order citing backorder with no expected fill date.

Not good. My roof is rusting and I was thinking about replacing the strips after I work on the paint. Maybe I'll just tape it off, spray it and call it good; not like anyone can really see the roof anyways. I need new headlights before molding though- they've gotten even more ridiculously overpriced than they used to be.

I messed mine up when installing a roof rack and never re-installed them. I will some day but won’t even think about it until it cools off some. No evidence of leaks.

I used 3M Tape to hold mine down after my Prinsu install.

Try buying the equivalent part for a 3rd gen. The cab is identical between 2nd and 3rd gen so it's possible the part you tried was superceded by a newer model but not mentioned on the schematic.
