Installed an OEM roof rack almost three years ago. I've had no leaks and had no problems with kayak transport.

Did they really charge you $7.72 for shipping each one, or did they combine the shipping?

Tied several boat anchors to my truck to destroy MPG.
Shipping was $8 on that order.

Give rhino track a search. The tracks are mounted into the black weather stripping area on top and can accommodate most Yakima and Thule options. Drilling is required, but I haven’t had any leaking issues. It can definitely be done DIY, but I had a place install for me in case of any issues. I believe the specific name is rhino track rts.

Thanks all for the feedback. Ended up going with the Yakima baseline with Jetstream bars. I think it makes the most sense for now, and is easy to remove/sell if I decide to upgrade to a beefier rack in the future.

So I got the Yakima today, but am already second guessing (got it fro REI so super easy to return). Second guessing because I also had to go to Home Depot today and saw a Gen 2 with the Front Runner rack, and it looked killer. One thing that pleasantly surprised me was that the bars on the rack looked more compatible with typical Thule, Yakima, etc. boxes and carriers than I imagined. However I asked Front Runner if they could confirm, and they would not. Basically said it's on me to determine compatibility. Has anyone with the Front Runner had experience mounting standard 3rd party boxes and racks to it?

Thanks again @0NEC4R for the suggestion and pics (and everyone else for the feedback). Went ahead and installed the baseline and Jetstream bars. I’m stoked with the fit, and relative ease of on and off, plus I know they’ll work with the various carriers I have. Definitely the best call for my needs.

I just ordered a cab rack from @Dissent86 of Dissent Offroad. Don't have it yet, so can't speak from personal experience. I did ask about wind noise and MPG. He said "The rack comes with a seal and is virtually noise free with the solid fairing, the light bar will make a little noise but not bad" "I would guess about 1 mpg loss, this will be highly dependent on what all is mounted to the rack." I'm not sure about weight, but I think I read it adds 36lbs. Can't remember the weight capacity.

Now trying to decide between a bed rack or headache rack for the back half still.

Looks great! Love the look of the Jet Stream bars vs the round like we have.

I like this look and setup. How much does that setup run?

I don't remember exactly, but I think it was somewhere between $400 and $500. If you order from REI before the end of the day today all Yakima (and Thule) is 20% off.

I picked up a used but new factory rack. Going to have the dealer install it. My idea was to purchase 2 crossbars that I can quickly put on or take off and have j mounts mounted them permanently for 2 kayaks

Skibums, how are you liking your rack? Did you install yours over the cab or on a shell?
