No worries about the pics unless you're super willing. I found a number of them online. I had pretty much decided on either a Prinsu or Dissent, but found out the Gobi is available for the Tacoma. It's a matter of style then. The Gobi is bombproof, but not very accessory friendly. The Prinsu seems a great clean choice with easy accessory add ons. The Dissent works well as a contractor or overland rig with the bed rack. First world problems for sure.

My last Gobi experience was great; the mesh floor was awesome and the whole thing was stout! I just need to figure out my likely use cases since I now have an open bed vs my FJ.

Not a fan of that aspect then? Others have commented that it took some tuning to get just right. Have you experienced differently?

Another option is Warrior Products, it doesn't seem to be very popular (at least on TW). Price is comparable to FR and some of the others. I had it on my 2015 and moved it over to my 2017 when I got rid of the 15. It's steel, and a bit on the heavy side if you're trying to remove/install yourself, but it looks great IMO, even thought it does sit a little higher than the Prinsu.

I too am looking at getting a canopy, which is prompting me to sell the WP and get a Prinsu (cost is more appealing, they're modular, and they have canopy racks that are easier to get ahold of than Warrior Products canopy rack)

Just another contender to throw in the ring.

My friends have the rack and have complained of it. My frontrunner is extremely quite out of the box.

As promised the Gobi stealth rack, I have experienced no noise issues, it's strong like bull, and look saweet IMHO. My apologies I have yet to choose a light bar for it, but it comes prepped for one. One thing I really appreciated about it is that it comes with its own gutter insets made from powder coated aluminum, so I didn't have to drill anything, just remove the rubber gutter covers and bolt it on. This allows me to keep the rack and sell the truck complete down the road,

couple more FRO pics. My favorite part is the ability to add items either directly via FRO made mounts or bolting on. The baja designs light bar bolted directly on to the rack in one of the 2 front and side upper and lower T-slots.

I'd go Dissent. Very unique and looks well built. If I didn't make my own, I was leaning towards one of those.

I really like the full Dissent package, I like the cab only version a little less. It seems a little overdone in the back without the bed rack. That of course is simply my personal tastes and shouldn't detract from the great design. I do like however how far back the last support bar is; it'll protect your cab if you need to stack lumber up there from the bed. Also, the t-nut design is great for add-ons and other modifications.

It does actually! I'd be a little worried it wouldn't support lumber that was lodged at the tailgate and strapped to the rack. That's not the only way to transport lumber, but it keeps it from hanging off the back end and causing potential collision issues.

    Thanks @Wdwrkr,

"...Strong like Bull!...", that pretty much sums up my experience. It wasn't great at attachments and accessories, but it was great at throwing random crap up there and lashing/netting it down. Good point about not having to sacrifice the factory insert. Also, looking at the design, I think they could've had the lower rail surround the shark fin and left the upper rail just in front of it. The upper rail would keep anything taller than 3" or so from sliding into the shark fin. But the extended lower rail would protect the back of the cab better.

I'm looking at the design online at gobiracks.com, and it looks like there's a cutout for the shark fin, sort of like what I was thinking above. Does yours have that? Also, it looks like their sunroof and no sunroof designs are different in the rear; I wonder if the sunroof option kills the shark fin?

You guys are making this a difficult decision; may need to pull out my 3-sided coin.

I'm sure @Dissent86 could fab you up a rear center fillet plate so it would look finished in the back.(without running bed rack)

That may be an option, though my concern was more with the extent of the side plate. It grows considerably to follow the cab and mate up aesthetically with the bed rack. Most cab racks simply 'run back and stop'. Personal tastes totally here. I get it. I'll see if @Dissent86 comments and has thoughts. Custom work once you've got a well oiled process can be a pain.

there is a "U" shaped cut out to protect the shark fin. I have other trucks I use for business so lumber on this one has never been an issue, but I do put long boards and SUP boards up there fairly often with out issue. I live in Mass so I just road up to Athol and picked up some pelican cases that lock right into the frame. I never thought of it as small myself, I suppose it is. Thats okay I'm secure in my masculinity

I am with you on the look without the bed rack, while the function of the longer rack is great and it is nice that it will act as a headache rack, the squared off edge looks a little unfinished without the bed rack. The great thing about this design is the ability to adapt to several different needs and tastes with out replacement of the entire rack. The side skirting of the rack is 2 pieces so I do have an option in the works where you lose the rear load bar, add the cab rack only rear side skirting and you will have a much cleaner look when there is no bed rack. If you ever decide to add the bed rack it's as simple as installing the original skirting.
I do have several options in the works that will complement the current version, I will be doing a chaser style headache rack that will blend with the rear of the cab rack as well as a short rack that will allow a rtt to be installed, the rtt will be aesthetically what blends the cab and bed rack together.
Feel free to contact me if you would like and we could go over what would best fit your needs weather it be my rack or any one of the other great racks mentioned in this thread.
    Thanks!
    Ben.

I would die to have a low profile roof rack for my 17 access cab have it conform to the roof line. Be a nice added touch to be able to put a soft cargo pack to for extra storage.

I'll keep an eye on your threads. It takes me a bit of time to work up the 'whatever' to spend this kind of money. I don't have a problem doing it, I just need to research the crap out of it first. Then convince myself I'm worth it. Then convince myself I've spent an equal amount on my wife's frivolities. Then I'm in.

Honestly, I don't have a specific need in mind yet. I haven't had my tuck long enough to know it's deficiencies yet. I had a Gobi on my FJ because I had no bed. That's where I hauled any lumber more than 8', or a count of 2. Sheets had to go up there of course. Other random Home Depot stuff too. And the occasional mulch overflow when I didn't want to make a second trip. For this truck, I'm having to find problems a roof rack would be a solution for (and no, extra cash in my wallet isn't the problem).
