I had some PVC trimboard scuff the roof on the Taco; any suggestions on best practice to buff out?
They’re white scuff marks on the Quicksand paint, not paint removed.

You may be able to remove that with just acetone (nail polish remover) and a cloth rag. If not, a polish / light buffing product like Meguiar’s Scratch X will easily remove.

Let’s see the pictures before recommending to put chemicals on paint. If it’s white from pvc board some detailing clay may work. You always want to start with least aggressive method first.

Do not use acetone. It has the potential to damage the paint.

Acetone will only damage the paint or clear coat if left on for a period of time.

Apply a small amount to a rag, buff lightly to remove the plastic scuffs, and then wash the area with soap and water. It’s very simple. Will not damage the paint.

Why not use a clay bar and then not have to worry about acetone?

The problem with a clay bar in this situation is that whatever it removes becomes embedded in the clay, and then gets dragged over the paint repeatedly. If the clay even removes the plastic scuff.

Acetone will immediately soften and remove the scuff.

But hey OP, do what you like. I’ve provided my recommendation, not gonna sit here and argue back and forth with folks about it. I’ve used this same technique to remove marks on my vehicle before with zero ill effects.

Not arguing about whether it works or not. Why run the risk of screwing up paint when there are paint safe products to use?

Lord. There is zero risk of damaging the paint using the technique I described. On the other hand, clay bar for anything other than tiny contaminants embedded in paint pores is a good way to put a bunch of swirl marks in the paint. In fact, using a clay bar routinely over time will actually dull the paint’s surface for the same reason on a much finer scale.

sure whatever. Telling a person without knowing experience that putting a chemical on paint is a great idea.
