My passenger side weatherstrip on my
Roof of my 09 double cab 2nd with 34,000 miles flew off on the freeway

I've never fucked with it, never even touched it

Would this be something that the warranty should cover? I've called a couple dealerships and they want to charge me $70 for a new one

There is a TSB for certain '09's that had a problem with the drip molding lifting at the rear edge. It may have been the cause of your problem OP. See attachment.

I had mine fly off at around the 15k mark. They replaced it without question.

I had one come off with less than 1000 miles on the truck while at hwy speeds. Fortunately it landed in the bed of the truck. It made quite a racket when it came off.

I didn't even know what happened. At first I thought I hit a piece of tire debris since there were pieces all over the hwy. When I got home, I checked around the truck and didn't see any damage. I then found the molding in the bed of the truck. I had no idea what it was but figured it was what I ran over on the way home. I rolled it up and threw it in the trash.

The next day I went to the truck and saw the molding was missing on the passenger side and then the light bulb lit up.

I was ready to drive to the dealership but before doing so, I decided to see how the thing attaches. The only thing holding it on is a piece of two sided tape at the rear and a little clip at the front. I could see the rear tape barely made contact which is why it came off.

I had some two sided tape on hand so I cleaned everything up and reattached it. I added some tape just behind the clip at the front too. It has not moved since.

It it comes off again, then the dealership can deal with it. But it was obvious they were going to do the same thing I did. I figured I save a lot of time waiting for them to repair it even under warranty.

Note: Duct tape gets all the glory, but two sided tape is really the unsung hero. :D

How many months since it was put into service... 36 Months or 36000 miles whichever happens first. The date of initial sale would be the in service date.
