I understand that as, he's at 325k miles and always used oem filters and whatever oil the service dept was using or Mobil 1 when he changed it himself.
But I am fluent in 1st Gen speak though so don't feel too bad:rofl:

Kerr McGee produced an oil named Blue Velvet.

The TV commercials would feature a girl wearing blue velvet pouring it in a campaign glass like she was going to take a drink.

I use Valvoline synthetic with lubegard. Blacklab said go with 8.5k oil change and lubrgard doesn't make a difference. See what the next blacklab results are.

I believe in no need to spend high dollar on these engines. Hino motors made these engine for industrial use. Just saying....

Royal purple makes a great specific breakin oil for new new/rebuilt motors for the first couple hundred...

but after that, you got to be kidding me....

Right now the top three are battling it out for top performance and anti wear additives.

Castrol, mobile one, pensoil, their premium offerings is neck and neck...

just dont buy it at an auto store.....buy it anywhere else..

I would not recommend high milage anything....unless you really need it...

High milage .....means seal life extenders added....

that makes the seals swell a little so old ones stop leaking....

If you use that on ones that are not leaking yet....they will swell and speed up their life...

Dumb ass me did not change the front tranny seal when motor was out...
now that slight shift has left me with a slow aft leak during hot summer months....

So I now use the walmart high milage atf....

I had to look... and yup, a Friday thread.

I worked in the auto parts industry for many years and made it a point to find out what people were getting as results depending on when they changed their oil and what brands they used.

    My findings?

That there is no difference as long as they change their oil within a reasonable time. Brands of oil didn't matter enough to have noticeable deviations. Engine cores came in with similar miles and usually running just fine, and we used them in circle track cars without any mods... and won as much as some other cars with big dollars invested. Octane boost mattered more than expensive parts.

It's kind of amazing how people overthink and overspend to keep their vehicles running well, because the main thing that kills engines is the way they are driven.

Modern oils dont down break down like the good old days.....

However its the combustion blow by that kills the oil...

In the old days at least the crap would settle out in the pan....
but todays detergent oil keep all that in suspension going around your egine again and again...

because of that I would always stay south of 4K changes.....

3K if all you do is stop and go traffic....like me.....

Name brand oils from wally.com is so dang cheap.

because my oil is so clean....I only do the filter about every third time......napa platinum's....
that makes for a 5 min oil change most of the time...

Royal purple found favor with custom builders....they are always looking to enlarge the money pit........what else are they gonna do with it...spend it on the wife...
