I believe those still have torque converters, I'm referring to transmissions that use automatically shifted clutches, with a standard gear box behind them.

Monkeyproof, gotta ask. How are the 4:56 gears with your 35s? I got my 35s on Wednesday and I'm thinking of going with 4:56 gears. I've got an automatic, 5 speed. Is yours auto or standard?

    i have the auto trans..

i love the gears with my 35's. the difference is very noticeable in every aspect. on the highway you'll notice the trans shift points are better and more transparent. if you tow anything then you'll really be pleased with the 4.56's.

on the trail you''ll notice an easier time with crawling over an obstacle or descending down something step..especially while in 4L

Good to hear that. I don't tow but I hail dirtbikes and camping gear often. I'm all excited, your truck is awesome. Do you have a build thread, sir?

Note to monkey proof... on slippery dirt (as we see in the video), no problem. I agree.

On granite rock, big problem (same as being on pavement)... Wonder why Toyota puts a warning lable on the use of the locker for emergencies only? Because, some will use it because they have been told it doesn't affect steering.. and then they go over a cliff because they couldn't turn the truck soon enough when it was locked.

A-TRAC Tacomas: Use A-TRAC when you are in low range... You probably won't need to also lock the rear... but it is there if the A-TRAC doesn't perform. A-TRAC does not hinder steering on hard surfaces...

What are you talking about? When turning on pavement there is a little tire squeeling and thats it. Maybe a very slight loss in turning radius. Why would people use full time lockers on a dd if it made them fall off cliffs?

that label says to " use only to free your stuck vehicle in an emergency escape from muddy road"

so..unless you're stuck in a muddy road, while in an emergency situation.. you should not use your rear locker..according to that label you are always quoting

    same shit as everyone else
What are you talking about? A locked rear WILL hinder your steering! Those DD with locked diff's handle like shit in the rain and you can spin out easily. I know, I drove one for years.
