RSI Smart Cap

How's it looking for the caps' arrival? Any updates?

 

Nothing solid. I have heard that batches are leaving Ft. Worth but I have yet to see any tracking heading to my location. Hopefully I will have an update by the end of the week.

 

Can’t recall seeing a post of something like this. Starting to notice some sort of rubber adhesive creeping out between the roof rack mounting tracks. Currently nothing attached up top. Wondering if I need to tighten anything down up there.

 

i've been checking the rsi website every other week or so to see when they will start selling the adventure models again. last time i checked, the 3rd gen orders said they would open this month. today it shows 5ft beds orders open in september and long beds open in june.

that doesn't seem like a good sign... i was hoping to get one sometime this summer

 

Either wait and see if a dealer has some arrive that are already on order or if a customer backs out of because of the wait. They will go fast though so if you see any available

 

sounds like thats all i can do at this point if im set on a rsi.

i was hoping to get it by the end of august at the latest for a road trip im planning. ill just wait and see. could always swap to an alucab or the gfc if i need to.

 

mine has been like that since day one, out of the box. I thought it was normal.

 

I got an email from the dealer I ordered from (ordered in September 22) saying their delivery has been pushed back to July.

 

Mine shipped like this from RSI direct. I wouldn't be too worried unless you have a prior evidence that the adhesive wasn't already doing that. Once the adhesive sets up, it's not really going to flow out of the seam, it'll more likely dry out, crack, and flake away.

 

Right on, I’ve had the cap for the better part of a year and my guess is it’s been there and I just noticed it.

 

That would be for a new order placed today direct. Taking into consideration all the caps that are already on backorder. Stores like myself have ordered way more than have sold, so will have their stock long before a new order placed direct would ship out. Hope that makes sense

 

That looks like the butyl tape picked up a little packaging foam. Supper common. You can always double check the roof panel bolts as a precausion

 

Are the side wing style doors for the Evo adventure the same size for the long box as the short box?
Looking at canopies for my 2007 Tacoma DCLB.

 

that makes total sense. i just thought they would have had a stable ramp in production by now. since they moved their projected new orders from now to a few months from now, i guess demand is still high or they aren't making as much as they expected.

ill keep on checking this thread to see when new adventure models are available.

Do they make or have insect screens for the sliding side Windows on the rsi evo cap? Just looking at them online couldn't find anything about that.

It probably wouldn't be too hard to fabricate one with some mesh and magnetic strips... basically something to cover the window and it's tracks from the inside.

I see a lot of pics of Evo adventure canopy's on short boxes but not really any on long boxes.
Seem the long box gets shafted for side opening area for reaching in the entire bed.

If people have any long box pics that may help sway me to buying one.
