New here and was hoping for some advice about roof top tents and installing one without getting rid of my toolbox.

First off, how has people's experience been with set-up/take-down at camp? I'm going to be driving cross country later this summer camping along the way and a RTT seemed like it might be a good option. Is it really a lot faster to set-up/take-down than a regular tent? A lot more comfortable? Trying to decide if it's worth the $$ vs just buying a better camping pad and using my existing tent.

Also, does anyone have any experience installing one on a truck that already has a toolbox in the back? I measured and there's basically 48" from the toolbox to the tailgate. I don't have a rack or anything yet and wasn't sure if it would work to install it that far back. I use the box daily so I don't want to have to ditch it for a tent.

I have a Freespirit automatic so it sets up in one minute after I get the cover off which takes a couple of minutes.

Here are some pics of different setups I've had. I'd recommend bed bars instead of a bed cage because there isn't a lot of room to work with when you have a toolbox. You've got to keep the tent closer to the rear so the toolbox can open.
