Wasn't trying to say that you were, just explaining the thought process.

It's a good clarification, since I know a lot of the community will have the same question as to why.

I have read that some ham radios are able to be modified, similar to the MARS mod, so they can both Tx & Rx on those frequencies. I asked Steve about this one time but we got no further than the initial inquiry. :notsure:

GMRS use seems more common in this area and does seem to be replacing the CB radio. Though it seems like many forgo the licensing aspect, risking any punishment for unlicensed use. The group that Raisin Mark wheels with is an example. But I also see the use of them discussed on the PNW bs threads on TW.

I'd love to be added to the list if there's room in the 6. I can commit to do the full two weeks.

Yeah man I get that! Is fun for sure!

Yeah I have enough antennas as it is

I don't see the point not yet anyways. So I'd say cb or ham for now.

Yeah I've read the differences though. Even if you missed a radio to work technically you'd need a new license to operate gmrs legally.

But yeah I know most do not do the license.(literally millions of people do not). So :notsure:

I'm not buying one yet that's for sure.

we have been moving away from CB to GMRS. (You can even get GMRS on some HAM radios easily). Just seems better in almost all conditions. Besides the cost for 5 or 10 years whatever it is. It's been away better. Nice options with ghost antennas as well.

I am interested interested but not sure I can commit to a CA trip at the moment. Already likely going to AZ and CO the month before.

I think it's worth noting(maybe in the OP @turbodb ) that I believe Montana is the back up pending other issues.

Was wondering if we should do two trips this year. Any way you could swing that? We've done it before...

I didn't expect two, two weekers. Was thinking sort of like the Re-Tour, then F.U.Rain, which were the same year but different trips.

I thought, maybe the two-weeker (or slightly less, dunno?) to Canada, and then a week in MT - Maybe in our usual late Sep timeframe? We can plan it in a separate thread, since we already have a lot of the route info.

hmm maybe. My season this year is the last week of aug through sept. So really we are looking at Aug and then Oct. If we have a fall like this year, sure thing. Sept and Oct here was beautiful. But who knows what the weather will be like this year.

I was thinking we could call the MT trip, the Three-Tour. ;)

Early October seems like a great time for it.

Well we will play that one by ear. See how it plays out. I'm not opposed to it at all.

Three tour lol or do we want to jinx it with that kind of name? Last time it didn't fair to well! Haha well...the first time. Last time though it snowed too!
