Run for the Border (2022 Trip Planning)

I would like to go and can go for the entire trip if possible.
Retired so very flexible on dates, length of trip and destinations.

 

@IDtrucks Are you allowed in Canada?

 

i am! But as it would happen, emily cant go till shes 30 hahahahahaha

Monte - have you finalized your time off from Aug 7-21?

 

nope.

few things in flux that could affect that. Mainly how the concert season plays out. Right now, if we don't have concerts indoors. My services will not be needed much with opens those two weeks up wonderfully.

But if we decide to have concerts in the hall, then I only get 1 week.

Few factors in play there.

Plus a possible film shoot during that time slot maybe.

Production...gotta love it.

This type of trip looses a lot of its appeal to me when I have to endure a border crossing and nutso fuel prices. It requires more legwork too since I don't have a passport or enhanced license. It okay though, I'll catch the next trip instead.

 

Ahh, I see. I thought those two weeks were relatively finalized for you and it was just a matter of formalizing it with the powers that be. If we tried to do just one, could you finalize that more quickly/ask for it off? I'm really just trying to figure out when I should get with @POSTacoMike to figure out (a) if he'll be able to join and (b) where to go in whatever time we have. Would rather not leave it to the last minute with him, since he's being nice enough to host us.

 

yeah for sure. I get it. I thought it would be more final but then more stuff developed. If its just a week it'd be the first part not the second. Which im like 70-80% confident is good to go for me.

 

oh i've never had issues with border crossings really. Well..okay once but that wasn't that big of a deal.

Although now...who knows.

 

IIRC, your issues were coming back to the US. I'll bet that this time it's going to be going into CA where the challenge will be.

Yeah did have that issue. You're probably right. I'd bet in general be more tricky.

 

Based on our conversations this past weekend, I have a Dr appt. on Thursday, August 4th. So I will be available for an adventure starting the 5th and for the remainder of August.

 

Hi guys!!! Been a busy, season, year, I don't really even know anymore, !! So, originally, I had these dates with nothing happening. But, industry has decided that with a couple Covid years, and no one doing maintenance shut downs to repair, correct, upgrade, and inspect equipment, august is now going to be a solid month of work. So, I will do all I can to help plan routes, and lay them out with Dan, and see if I can hook you guys up with locals, like Cody, who you met last year, Dan, and maybe a few of the Cranbrook guys, and some of the west koot fellas too. I'll get the maps and get them to you, Dan, on Gaia seems to be the best. As you'd noted prior, we are a few decades behind on mapping up here. lol!!

 

Monte - any progress on firming up dates on your side? You want to plan for a single week, or two?

What a bummer, but I totally get it, and appreciate the help via trail suggestions, etc. Happy to get those from you in whatever way is most convenient for you, and as soon as you're ready. I think you have all my modes of contact by now, what with my pestering you, hahaha.
