^^^This, remove the 2 caps, then remove the 2 10mm bolts, then pull down panel. Easy.

I resolved the problem of wiring by purchasing the cordless Escort Solo S3. Perhaps not as good as some of the very best (even more expensive) detectors, but it does reduce the chance of getting a ticket. Of course, probably not an option if you already have radar detector. Decided to introduce the idea anyway.

I had mine hardwired in my last vehicle but got lazy in the Taco and just bought the really long cord from escort. Still hidden as if it was hardwired except where its plugged into the power outlet lol.

LOL. I don't remember commenting about the radar detector before, but it's certainly possible. When I find something that works, I usually do tend to talk about it.

Here's my hard wired 9500ix with a hard wired and remote mute which I mounted at one of my spare knockouts. Kinda bulky but it's better than having a stupid cord hanging down in front of the radio and it leaves both of my accessory outlets available. Sorry I didn't take pics during install as I was in a time crunch before vacation. I love my Escort, their customer service is second to none. Well worth the purty pennies IMO.
