Hi guys I'm fairly new to the forum but this site has been a huge help for info.
I'm planning on running the 5100s front and rear with emu 2887 coils and AAL to squeeze in 285/70r17s

I believe my rims have a -17 offset.

I'm assuming I'm gonna need wheel spacers and some plastic triming. Do you guys think I get away with no CMC?

You probably could if you didn’t offroad or didn’t mind it hitting when going up a curb or driveway.

Just out of curiosity, what if I run the 2888 coils and get that full 3 inches?

Dunno about 3rds but my 2nd with 285's was hardly streetable until I CMC'ed, offroad was definitely not possible. Ido know the 3rd and 2nd gen underpinnings are almost identical sooo...

And that was with 5100's and 887's so 2.5" lift.

See my above post, I wouldn't recommend 888's you're really putting some strain on the 5100's at that point to get 3" they're really only good up to 2.5" after that it's time for some 2.5" coilovers. Kings/FOX/Icon etc.

That's the boat I'm in now, need to do my 63" chevy leaf swap and then get coilovers to raise the front to match. Definitely ain't doing it the other way around. Not about that Carolina squat. :puke:

Always be ready to cut it up...if you want a certain tire and wheel spec go for it. Just be ready what you have to do to make it work.

No one will no 100% to many setups and to many variables.

I already own the wheels and tires so I'm just trying to piece together a budget lift to fit:drunk:

    Thanks

I'm using fuel trophy wheels with 4.5" backspacing and 285/70/17 tires. Also have a cheap spacer lift (3" I believe) and have no can mount rubbing (no cmc). Only slightly rubbing on UCA at full turn and on plastic fender lining at full turn.

I wheel my truck often and it works great!

You have to realize one thing man... your suspension needs to be able to cycle throughout it's full range without your tires rubbing. So if you lift it three inches and then hit a bump and compress your suspension three inches, you are back to stock height for a minute. So, you have to fit the tires at stock height without rubbing, plus it has to fit even lower than stock if you plan on doing any off road at all. Even hitting a speed bump will drop your suspension three inches.
    Good luck!

What he said above about suspension travel. Another thing to consider is alignment can have an effect on what rubs and what doesn’t. If you lift it your adjustment of caster/camber becomes difficult to get in the sweet spot without getting aftermarket UCAs that already have additional caster built into them.

You can make it work, but it’s not just going to bolt on and not rub under compression with the wheel turned. How big of a deal that is really depends on what you’re doing.

I have 6112s with 285s and no cmc and have no issues. I don’t do any crazy wheeling but have had no issues. If you’re going for the look you can have it. Just don’t expect full travel of your suspension without the cmc

Have the alignment shop max out your caster and you might be able get away with it. I wheeled 285/75/16 MTRs with no CMC on my second gen and it never rubbed the cab mount. I rubbed everything else tho

I don't comment on fitment pages like this anymore bc I was banned for a week for making the same comment as yours to a new member. Was worded in a shorter summary but oh well lol. I agree with your statement bc people don't alway consider full cycling to the point where I've had my wheel touching the top of the wheel well but people want to make bold statements that 285's will fit without trimming.

@barfy cutting isn't that big of a deal. Bring it over and we'll make it look like it nothing was ever cut.
