    Hello all,

I recently got a new Lunar Rock Tacoma. My use case is mostly for daily driving and towing a camping trailer with the family. I am looking for running boards that help my 3 little girls get in the back of the truck. What suggestions would folks have on the trim level of a 2023 TRD Sport that don't break the bank? (I put it all into the down payment!)

    Thanks in advance!

Before I had sliders, I had Ionic brand running boards. I loved them and my wife was a huge fan, to the point where she was actually upset with me when I sold them lol.

I just did a quick search and I couldn’t find any that fit the 2023 so I’m not sure if they discontinued them. It’s worth searching around the internet… they were like $130 new, took me about an hour to install by myself in my driveway with like 2 hand tools.

This is basically what I had, I believe I had the 4” version though. The price has apparently gone up.

"What kind do you want, like the super emasculated style for senior citizens or something cool/semi useful like predator nerf bars, or full rock sliders I dont condone or suggest this site, but they show a ton of styles for you to get an idea

Good luck and welcome to TacomaWorld"

Thanks! (I haven't figured out the reply option yet!) I think I am looking for something that would look stock, be low maintenance. I don't need anything overly aggressive looking. I had a Camaro for 5.5 years before this truck so I'm not a off-roader.... yet...

-Awesome! My wife's opinion is one of the more important opinions as well! I will search around. I'm finding that the 2023 simply isn't entered on some listings yet as if you put in 2022 it fits... I can't imagine they changed the spacing for the 2023

That’s a good point about the 2023’s not being entered into the systems yet for product matching. Hopefully they do have them! I mean, the ones from my 2021 would surely fit your 2023 so hopefully they’re still making them.

Keep your eyes open on Marketplace. I bought a used set of Toyota black tubes for $100. Guy bought the truck new, ran with them for a few months and then changed it up.

agreed I think this is the best route for cheap running boards. People take them off all the time to upgrade to sliders and you can find a decent set for right around $100 as mentioned above

    @Carpedm

I installed HDX steps...considering my wife's ease to step into her passenger seat.

These OEM 2nd Gen Running Boards are pretty nice and at <$300 they won't break the bank.

And to answer your next question, yes they will fit your 3rd gen as both generations share the same cab.

I came here to say this. LOL.

Mine came with the OEM nerf tube type and I removed them but put them aside in case I want them when I do a lift.

@Carpedm if you get them off FB Market or Craigslist make sure they are the ones for your bed/cab combo.

Oem plastic coated running boards. Does MD get snow and use salt? If so they will last the best.

work great at keeping road debris off my paint and rock chips. Also the kids can get in by themselves
