Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
    Blast it and undercoat it.

So I shouldn't take any action to get rid of the rust that's already on there? And how do I handle the inside of the frame, Just spray the fluid film inside? And how often should you reapply? and how do you wash the undercarriage after its been reapplied? I know, a lot of questions haha and thanks for the response.

If you can find Formula 3000 it is supposedly better than Fluid Film. CDN military did a comprehensive test and the Formula 3000 performed best. Both are great products.

Ideally you can get the rust cleaned up first or apply a rust converter, or just apply the rust inhibitor which penetrates through the rust. All you have there is surface rust and the paint is chipping away.

You should wash it before applying. Spray off the bottom periodically but pressure washing will remove the rust inhibitor more quickly. I apply 2 times a year. Before and after winter.

It seems a lot of people are having decent results with amsoils HDMP. During a dry period I would have it blasted and sealed up. Some guys around me have been undercoating with line x. Not sure how it works but just what I've noticed.

    That rust is NOTHING !!!

I thought you were going to post up pictures of a rust problem ?

    -----------
    anyhow, as others say

sand or blast it, then paint, then coat with goop. Or you could go straight to the sloppy greasy sticky rust treatment direct on that rust after a good scraping

you don't have to sand blast it by any means, you would probably be better of with another type of media, such as soda, or glass. Soda blasting, you could do it yourself if you have a decent compressor and some other materials from a hardware store.

Toyota recently had a recall on 2nd gens for undercarriage rust problems and I just had mine in for them to re spray it, maybe try talking to a dealership and see if it applies to you?

Soda blasting is using baking soda, like the standard store bought stuff or they make a bigger bag that's a lot cheaper and you rig up an air compressor with a gun that is shooting into the tube and out the nearest end. then the other end of the tube is ran into your baking soda. This creates a vacuum and shoots the baking sound at the surface. Its a environmental friendly/less harsh on the surface your trying to clean up. I've cleaned up my leafs on my f150 this way along with a steel dirt bike frame. if you google it their is a bunch of right ups on how to do it for cheap and how to make your own "soda blaster gun" Best of luck. Next time I do it ill take pictures and post it up here for future references. Best of luck! let us know what you end up doing, and your end result
