You don’t want to reduce the inside diameter of any drain line. It will get clogged unless you clean your evaporator often.

    Your hose might melt little.
    Just something to think about.

You can't see it because of the dust guard but that hose has a slow gradual arc down and back. I followed the old plumbing rule of 1/4 inch minimum per foot of slope for drain lines. Well the slope is closer to between 1/2 to 3/4 an inch on the line rather than 1/4 but you get the idea. I wanted to run a gradual bend to prevent a restriction. I will keep an eye on it though to see if it backs up and barfs after my morning commute.

The pool from the line has been less than the pool with no line so I'm going to run it as is and take my chances.

Driving out in the rain would have a greater impact then the water dripping out of that drain. And for anyone who lives in an area where they get snow and use salt they will have much more to worry about. I coated the shit out of my frame when I first got it. After the first winter it already looked like shit. Truck is almost 2 years old now. Doing this “mod” wasn’t going to help it any

I posted it in this thread a few months ago, but when I was laying underneath my '99 1st Gen doing an oil change, I looked up the firewall on the passenger side and noticed the same exact little drain tube. Apparently the Tacomas have had that exact setup on their A/C drains at least since '99. My 99 does not have any rust issues, and it spent most of its life in the bay area before I moved to AZ 5 1/2 years ago. I was gonna do this mod to my '17, but not sure if I really want or need to

Installed this mod, last night. I wound up running down the inner frame rail and through the only hole in the cross member on the frame. Fairly tight fit next to two small hoses and the heat shield, but will keep an eye on it to make sure they're not rubbing or getting too hot from the heat shield. I ran out of time, but will go back and clean up the long ends of the zip ties.

    Great post.

Just FYI, the exhaust is very much next to this hose so take care to zip tie against the frame over the first few inches.

AC condensate is the worst. This is essentially distilled water and will readily cause rust 10x quicker than regular rain water.

Distilled/deionized water typically leaches minerals and ions from metal at a accelerated rate. This is typically mitigated by passivated and electropolished steel which the tacoma does not have.

Thank you. I was considering NOT doing this mod as some posters have said it was kind of useless. Your post is making me second guess my second guessing, haha.

I believe they are referencing the fact that when you run the system in defrost mode, you are in fact engaging the AC compressor...
