There's more than one way to do it. Whatever works. When I did my 2019, I used 1/2" clear vinyl hose and a plastic 1/2" barb connector. The clear vinyl hose is considerably more flexible than 5/8" heater hose.

I remember reading somewhere on TW that some dealerships were selling kits for this. Not sure how much the kits were.

I would recommend this mod in hot or cold climates. Since doing mine, I’ve noticed more drain activity when using the heater

I spent more time reading this thread over the past years than it took to attach the hose today, on my 2016 with 25k.

This was one of the 1st thing I did to my 19. Quick trip to True Value for 5/8" hose and a clamp.

    thanks Tacomaworld

Use the clear hose you can buy cheap at Lowe’s.

This was the first thing I did to my truck. Super easy, I think I took longer locating the drain... than installing the parts. Thank you TW!

Is this still an issue for 2020s, or has it been addressed by Toyota?

Nothing has changed on a 2020 compared to prior years.

Going to do this very soon ... been snow wheeling into my friend's cabin last 3 breaks from work. Noticing a build up of ice on the frame down there. Thanks Op & TW.
