Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
    • Rear diff breather if you're going through deeper water or at least before it corrodes shut.
    • Not a mod but snug down your u-bolts to 52 lb-ft.
    • Lube up your gas door before it seizes over time and bends hinge
    • Interior center armrest organizer; truck should've come with one
Other than that, drive and enjoy it.

Only 2k on my 2020 but went out and immediately bought the hose and clamp for this little mod. I'm currently leasing so I'm trying everything I can to keep the truck immaculate.

So assume this is still a problem on 2020s? They didn't change/fix it? If so, guess I better go grab the stuff myself.

They did not change it. Did this mod with 7k on mine. No rust.

I've got about 300 on mine so far, so hopefully not an issue yet! Though since it is summer I've been running a/c pretty much everywhere I go.

I noticed the other day, it was dripping onto the frame and rolling back about 4 inches behind the wheel well. Then went searching for a solution. Just did it this morning and it’s working well. Seems dumb that they poke it through towards the front end instead of routing it down and back from the factory

Wow glad I found this. Just picked up my 2020 and just added the 5/8 heater hose and got some clamps. With only 200miles on the truck, this is def the first mod.

    Thanks!

The Tacoma A/C drain tube has been this way forever. They must not think it's a big deal enough to change it because my '99 has the exact same drain as my '17.

First post has photos. The AC hose is behind the black flap on the passenger side wheel well. Its easier to access if you turn the passenger wheel to the left.

Well you can just open your hood and look down the firewall on the passenger side if you want to see it. Now actually doing the mod, pulling the flap off might be helpful, but if you just want to see to get an idea, just pop the hood.

    Stock truck for now.
New 3rdGen owner here, traveled to Nashville TN from central MS Last week to get a super clean 17 with 55000 miles on her. Did this mod last night after replacing the O-Rings on the Vacuum pump.

Thanks for the write up, my first mod on the new truck, thankfully/surprisingly there was no rust that I could see.

    Side-Note
Noticed a small oil leak after getting it home and after investigating further located the source, bad O-Ring on the vacuum pump from a previous repair of the emissions system. Tight work space but with some good help and a few choice words it’s something anyone with a little know how and mechanical aptitude can replace, saving a trip to the dealer and being without your Trk for who knows how long.

Is the heater hose recommended due to being able to handle heat better, or was it just suggested because it happened to work?

I believe this is the thread?

I haven’t done mine yet. Because no rain here. Ever. And no water crossing. And I don’t drive anywhere anymore. But someday. Because? Why not.
